Summary
With the release ofZenless Zone Zero’s 1.1 update,Undercover R&B, the game will also receive new banners, which will run separately throughout the roughly six weeks before theZZZ’s next update. As per usual with HoYoverse gacha games, the patch will be divided into two distinct “phases,” with one character and one weapon banner running during the first phase and another of each during the second phase, with each phase lasting about three weeks and (probably) having no overlap between them.
Off the back of a successful launch period,Zenless Zone Zero’s first major updateis something of a “breather” patch for the main story and will instead be expanding on the New Eridu Public Security faction, which appeared only in an intermission story in the release patch. The 1.1 update will round out the faction’s roster, introducing Qingyi, Seth Lowell, and Jane Doe as playable characters, while also adding a new Public Security Bangboo to support the faction. However, each new playable character and their associated W-Engines will be spread across four different banners running throughout the patch.

Zenless Zone Zero 1.1 Leaks Reveal New Character That Isn’t Burnice Or Caesar
A recent Zenless Zone Zero leak confirms a new NPC is in development and he looks very similar to a familiar Honkai Star Rail character.
Qingyi Is The Focus Of The First ZZZ 1.1 Banners
Untainted Jade, Featuring Qingyi, Is Available Until September 4
The first phase banners ofZZZ1.1 focus primarily on Qingyi, an S-rank Electric Stun Agentwho, despite appearing in the release version of the game, was not previously playable. The character banner, Untainted Jade, will feature Qingyi as its limited S-rank, and Corin and Billy as its rate-up A-ranks. For her part, Qingyi is valuable as the game’s first limited Stun character and synergizes especially well with Zhu Yuan, but Corin and Billy may hold the highest value as A-rank agents for most players, making Untainted Jade a slightly less valuable banner to pull on.
Along with Qingyi herself, the Dissonant Sonata W-Engine banner for the first phase of 1.1 will feature increased rates for her signature W-Engine, Ice-Jade Teapot, and the signature W-Engines for Corin and Billy, Housekeeper and Starlight Engine Replica, respectively. W-Engines are typically a secondary consideration for pulling, after the characters themselves — but having signature W-Engines that synergize with a character’s kit can provide a large boost, and Qingyi’s, in particular, has the powerful effect of boosting the entire team’s damage when certain conditions are met.

For players who pulled Zhu Yuan in 1.0, Qingyi will likely be the most optimal Stun Agent to pair her with, as they each activate each other’s faction passives, and Qingyi’s increased Stun damage multiplier synergizes especially well with Zhu Yuan’s increased damage towards Stunned targets.
Alongside the first phase character and weapon banners,ZZZ1.1 will also introduce a new Bangbooassociated with the Public Security Faction, the S-rank Officer Cui. Unlike the other banners of the patch, however, Officer Cui is simply being added to the standard Bangboo banner as a new selectable option, and will be a permanently available addition throughout 1.1 and all other patches going forward.
The Second Phase Banners Of ZZZ 1.1 Focus On Jane Doe
[No Match Found], Featuring Jane Doe, Is Available From September 4 To The End Of 1.1
The second phase banners of 1.1 will begin on September 4, shortly after the first phase banners end. The character banner,[No Match Found], will feature Jane Doe, an S-rank Physical Anomaly Agent, and Seth Lowell and Anby, who are Electric Defense and Electric Stun, respectively. Jane Doe is the first limited Anomaly agent to be introduced, and although her focus on the Disorder mechanic may make her less immediately valuable for players who don’t have Grace, she may synergize well withtwo upcomingZenless Zone Zerocharacters— and Seth and Anby are fairly valuable A-ranks, as well.
The corresponding W-Engine banner for Jane will feature her signature W-Engine, Sharpened Stinger, which grants large boosts to her Physical damage and Anomaly Buildup Rate. Alongside the Sharpened Stinger, the banner will also feature a rate-up for Peacekeeper — Specialized and Demara Battery Mark II, the signature W-Engines for Seth and Anby, respectively. For players who pull Jane, her W-Engine may be more of a consideration, as the game’s currently available Anomaly W-Engines may not have the best synergies with her abilities.
Jane Doe benefits heavily from having a second Anomaly character of a different element on her team — of which the only current option is standard banner S-rank Grace Howard, although Jane may also synergize well with upcoming Fire Anomaly Agent Burnice White.
The first major update forZZZbrings with it three new playable characters and their corresponding W-Engines, spread across the two phases of the update. Qingyi, Jane, and Seth all promise to be powerful additions to the accounts of any player who pulls for them, although, with more updates for the game yet to come, players may have to decide between spending or saving their pulls. Especially givenZenless Zone Zero’s team-based combat, any one of the 1.1 update’s new characters could be the perfect addition to round out a team from the launch version of the game.
