Jamie’s hunt for power is reaching into deadly territory inYellowstoneseason 5 part B. The Dutton son has spent the past two seasons struggling to find himself since learning he was adopted byKevin Costner’s Johnafter his biological father murdered his mother. Season 5 part A, in particular, has seen Jamie growing discontent with John becoming the Governor of Montana, frustrated by being further pushed away from having control over the family’s ranch, all while trying to be a part of his son’s life.
TheYellowstoneseason 5 part A finalesaw things escalate to an all-time high for Jamie as, per the influence of Market Equities' Sarah Atwood, he publicly called for John’s impeachment. Beth, enraged by his actions, threatens her adoptive brother that their war is only just beginning, having also previously discussed with her father the possibility of taking Jamie to the “Train Station”, the infamous region where the family has dumped many bodies and secrets in the past. In response, Jamie asked Sarah about the possibility of looking into professional hitmen for both John and Beth, creating a life-or-death fight going into season 5 part B.

Is Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 The End?
After more than a year, Yellowstone finally returns with season 5, part 2, in November 2024, but will this set of episodes be the show’s last outing?
TheYellowstoneseason 5 part B castincludes the returns of Wes Bentley as Jamie and Kelly Reilly as Beth alongside Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille, Cole Hauser, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Gil Birmingham, Ryan Bingham, Wendy Moniz, Forrie J. Smith and Dawn Oliveri. Despite leading the cast for five seasons, though, the final set of episodes will not see Costner’s return due to his scheduling conflicts making theHorizon: An American Sagamovies, leaving a major power void between the Dutton siblings to claim ownership of the ranch.

Ahead of the show’s final return,Screen Rantinterviewed Wes Bentley to discussYellowstoneseason 5 part B, how John’s absence will impact Jamie and his war with Beth, the character Jamie is actually more terrified of than his sister, and his thoughts on a potential return for the in-production sequel show and various spinoffs in the works.
Jamie & Beth’s War Is “Going To Be Intense”
Bentley Also Shares Why Jamie Has Never Achieved Forgiveness
Screen Rant: I cannot wait for when I can finally watch Part B. They’re being very secretive about it so far. My first question for you is, obviously, we left off Part A withBeth and Jamie about to go to war. Jamie’s starting to look for hitmen to go after Beth and John. Do you personally think that there is a path for forgiveness and redemption for Jamie going into the back half of the season?
Wes Bentley: Well, I could say that about any season, I think there’s always been some kind of path for reconciliation, but it doesn’t appear the show goes that way. I don’t want to say anything to spoil what’s coming, but it’s Yellowstone, so it’s going to be intense and a little dark, but also really dramatic and, I think, ultimately satisfying for the audience.

Bentley Is Tight-Lipped On Secrets For More Than Just Avoiding Studio Trouble
This Is Especially True Regarding Costner’s Exit & John’s Absence
So, obviously, another big thing this season is that John is absent in the final episodes here. Obviously, Jamie himself just did away with his father not too long ago in the show. I’d love to hear how John’s absence really impacts Jamie, not only in his war with Beth, but just in general, going into these final episodes.
Wes Bentley: Well, I won’t say too much about how it impacts this season, just because, for the fans, I don’t want to spoil it. For me, when I watch any little thing, I’ll pick up on it and go, “Oh, I knew what happened!” [Chuckles] So, I won’t say much to that, but with TV, you’re always kind of prepared for something big like that. Your big star might be gone all of a sudden, or the show might be cancelled, or you might be killed off. [Laughs]

So, you’re always kind of ready for that big change to happen, and you just enjoy all the experiences in the moment, because you never know what’s coming around the corner. But I’ll just say about Kevin that he, obviously, is a big part of the show, and he’s been amazing, and is a great guy, a great actor to work with. I’m just so happy that I got a chance to do so.
Jamie Is Even More “Terrified” Of The Possibility Of Rip Coming After Him
“…it’s also someone who he has a connection to.”
I know you don’t want to get into spoilers, but one thing I’d love to hear is, obviously, Rip is a big supporter of Beth. He’s willing to go to the ends of the earth for her. He’s in Texas, though, and I’m curious if, as things heat up, there may be some kind of conflict between Rip and Jamie in particular?
Wes Bentley: Yeah, I won’t say what’s coming, but I will say that I think that’s one of the biggest things Jamie is terrified of, is, “Is Rip coming for him, more than Beth, even?” [Chuckles] It’s funny, because with Rip and Jamie, they had a history, and in season 2, particularly, we see that there’s a connection between the two of them, and you forget they kind of grew up together a little bit, in a way. So, yeah, Rip’s someone he’s scared of, but it’s also someone who he has a connection to. So, what would go down if Rip was to be the one, what would actually happen between them? It’s interesting [to think about].

Bentley Is Open To Return ForYellowstone’s Sequel & Spinoff
“I don’t know anything, it’s literally above my pay grade…”
I see I have enough time for one more question, so I would also love to ask. There are a lot of reports of either aYellowstoneseason 6 or a sequel. Again, we don’t want to get into spoilers. I don’t know what happens with Jamie this season, but if that door is open, what are your thoughts on continuing the character of Jamie past this season?
Wes Bentley: Oh, of course, I’d be interested in that. I don’t know anything, it’s literally above my pay grade, I only know what I know, and they just tell me when to show up and say words. But yeah, you know, it’s a hard character to play. It’d be hard to continue on that way, but it’s also been a good challenge, and one I’ve enjoyed. So yeah, I would, of course, be open to that.
