Ti West is now set to develop a new comedy series calledBloodlust. West is best known for directing theXtrilogy, which includes the filmsX,Pearl, andMaXXXine.MaXXXinewas released to fairly positive reviews in 2024, and made a profit at the box office by grossing $22 million worldwide on an estimated $1 million budget.MaXXXine’s cast featured a variety of main stars includingX’s Mia Goth alongside Halsey, Charley Rowan McCain, Simon Prest, Elizabeth Debicki, Chloe Farnworth, Giancarlo Esposito, Moses Sumney, and Kevin Bacon.

PerVariety, West developing a comedy series calledBloodlust.West will develop the project with Halsey, who signed on to write for the series.Bloodlustwill be developed for Prime Video and is described as a dark comedy. What Bloodlust Means For Its Main Team

This Is A Big Step In Halsey’s Career

Bloodlustwill be thefirst collaboration between Halsey and West since the pair worked together onMaXXXine. For that movie, Halsey only served in an acting capacity. Still, her interesting role in the slasher horror film was aided byWest’s direction. Though she will not be in front of the camera this time around, West and her can still tap into their strong foundation of collaboration to work on the film.

MaXXXine Ending Explained

The ending of MaXXXine serves as a fitting if quietly ambiguous finale to the X trilogy, even while leaving room open for further sequel expansion.

The series is aparticularly exciting move for Halsey herself. In recent years, the singer-songwriter has become more and more of a Renaissance woman as she has branched into acting through projects likeA Star is Born,MaXXXine,Americana, andSing 2. While she has plenty of writing experience from her music career,Bloodlustwill be the first time that Halsey makes a foray into screenwriting. Through her role as a producer, creator, and writer, the celebrity can further show the breadth of her talent.

Our Take On Bloodlust

This Is A Genre Departure For West

With theXtrilogy concluded, it is good to see West taking on more work towards this next project. It interests me that the series does not seem to be in the horror genre, as the show is described as a dark comedy. West has generally worked within this space of stylized, homage-heavy slasher films, so it will be interesting to see how his unique directorial vision translated across genres. Working with hisMaXXXinestar is a good initial sign, though, thatBloodlustcould be a fascinating project.
