The surprise confirmation comes seven minutes into a video celebrating Cockle’s most beloved lines fromThe Witcherseries. Cockle takes a moment from recalling his favorite lines and discussing his career to drop the nugget of information about the next entry in the franchise. “The Witcher 4 has been announced,” he says after recounting what follows the famous line fromThe Witcher 3,“Watch out, behind you!”

Geralt Won’t Be The Central Character In The Witcher 4

No News Yet On New Protagonist

The new reveal confirms that Geralt will be back inThe Witcher 4and still be voiced by the same actor. However, there’s no news regarding the extent of his involvement in the games to follow. Cockle states: “I can’t say anything about it. What we know isGeralt will be a part of it, but we don’t know how much.”

Cockle goes on to say that, although Geralt will be making an appearance,the story won’t center around the previous games' protagonist. “He’s not the focus of the game,” says Cockle. “It’s not about him this time.” Considering how little is known about the next game right now, players might get to meet anolder or younger Geralt inThe Witcher 4.

Doug Cockle is intentionally vague in his revelations, as even he doesn’t know yet who the next game will be about. He claims he hasn’t seen the script yet and is “excited to find out.” Even if he did know whoThe Witcher: Polariswill be about, he admits that he can’t tell fans yet.The Witcher 4is still far off, having only entered pre-production in March 2024. Besides, he reminds fans, “I could be lying through my teeth.” It’s fair to say that fans of Geralt andThe Witchercan remain hesitantly optimistic about seeing their beloved character again in future games.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Set some time after the events of The Witcher 2, The Witcher 3 centers once again on the monster-slaying Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher on the hunt for his adopted daughter. The Wild Hunt is a group of ominous elves seen as an omen of war - their purpose is to find and capture individuals to serve them. Unfortunately for Geralt, his daughter, Ciri, is their new target due to her Elder Blood. When Geralt receives a letter from his former lover, Yennefer, they reconvene to meet with the Emperor of Vizima, who reveals the truth about Ciri. With new information at his fingertips, Geralt sets off in search of her to reach her before the Wild Hunt does.
