The main reason the X-Wings in the trailer forAndorseason 2 look different from the ones inA New Hopeis that they’re owned by different groups.The X-Wings inA New Hopefeatured Rebel Alliance paint jobs, while the ones inAndorseason 2 are Saw Gerrera’s “Cavern Angel” X-Wings. There were likely a few reasons Saw Gerrera’s Partisans chose to paint the Cavern Angels differently from the Rebel Alliance’s X-Wings. As shown several times in the past,Saw was fiercely independent and unwilling to work with anyone who didn’t share his extremist views, so the Cavern Angels were likely painted specifically to distinguish the Partisans from the Rebel Alliance. Additionally, as the name suggests, the Cavern Angels were often hidden in caves and other hiding spots across the galaxy as the Partisans avoided the Empire. The black paint might have helped the X-Wings blend into the shadows.
