Squid Game Season 2 Ends With 3 Games Left To Be Played

There were a total of 6 games in Squid Game season 1

Unlike season 1 before it,Squid Gameseason 2 shockingly ends without a winner and beforeall the games in the Squid Gamehave been completed. During the final episode ofSquid Gameseason 2 titled “Friend or Foe”,Gi-hun leads a revolt against the armed pink guards with several other contestants, including the Front Man disguised as Player 001, In-ho. Apart from the initial recruiting game, ddakji with the Salesman, there were a total of six games inSquid Gameseason 1: Red Light Green Light, Dalgona (with the shapes on honeycomb toffee), Tug of War, Marbles, Glass Stepping Stones, and the final Squid Game.

Squid Gameseason 3 premiers in 2025.

Squid Gameseason 2 also begins with the iconic Red Light Green Light gameand features Gi-hun attempting to coach the new clueless contestants on how to survive it. After helping many contestants survive the first game, Gi-hun believes that the next game will be Dalgona like it was the last time he played. However, it ended up being a combination of five mini-games in which teams of five contestants must finish within a 5-minute time limit. The third and final game featured inSquid Gameseason 2 was called Mingle, which required contestants to team up in groups based on the announced number and run to safety.

Why There Were Only 3 Games In Squid Game Season 2

Red Light Green Light, 5 mini-games, and Mingle

There were only three games inSquid Gameseason 2 because Gi-hun orchestrated a revolt against the pink guards before the games could be completed. After completing the third game called Mingle, the contestants voted on whether to continue the Squid Game as they do at the end of every round. The X and O teams ended up drawing a 50-50 tie between the 100 remaining players, which meant that a revote would be held the following day. That revote never happened because a violent fight broke out in the men’s bathroomwhich left five dead and topped the scales in the X team’s favor by 1 vote.

“I’m So Sick Of Squid Game”: Netflix Series Creator Gets Candid While Giving Season 3 Production Update

Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk gets candid about the defining Netflix show, admitting that he’s a little tired of it, as season 3 looms.

The guards intentionally gave the contestants forks with their meals which players on both sides used against each other.Gi-hun predicted that a violent attack would happen after the lights went out, which is exactly what ended up happening. Even though innocent members of the X team were brutally murdered, Gi-hun’s plan to catch the pink guards off guard worked and several contestants ended up stealing their MP5 submachine guns. Gi-hun then forced one pink guard kept alive to escort him and a squad of rebels to the headquarters of the masked men.

Will The Games Resume In Squid Game Season 3?

The remaining contestants will likely battle it out

After In-ho betrays two members of the revolting players, he masks himself once again as the Front Man and kills Gi-hun’s close friend, Jung-bae (Player 390), in cold blood, which is shockingly how the season ends. Gi-hun is kept alive but In-ho tells him that his little revolution and plot to take down the Squid Game is over. Most of the other rebels are killed by the pink guards but a fair chunk of contestants who stayed behind in the players' quarters remain alive. It’s unclear what exactly will happen to Gi-hunas he is the only contestant who rebelled who wasn’t killed, other than Player 120 and Player 388, who retreated.

It seems likely that the same Squid Game will resume as plannedinSquid Gameseason 3. This would indicate that all the new and returning characters who are still alive at the end of season 2 will return in season 3. The biggest question at the end ‘of season 2 is whether In-ho will reveal his true identity to Gi-hun. Since Oh Il-nam was Player 001 inSquid Gameseason 1just like “Young-il was in season 2, it’s interesting that Gi-hun never found In-ho suspicious. Oh Il-nam was revealed to be one of the creators of the Squid Game at the end of season 1 and In-ho wore the same player number as him in season 2.

Who’s Most Likely To Win The Games In Squid Game Season 3

A Few Fan-Favorite Characters Are Left Standing

Since Gi-hun was the only player who did not return to the players’ quarters at the end ofSquid Gameseason 2, his fate remains the most questionable. It’s highly unlikely that In-ho will kill Gi-hun since he seems to have developed a deep admiration for his heroic efforts throughout the season. In-ho could toss Gi-hun back into the Squid Game orhe could attempt to convince him to become one of the Squid Game’s overseerssince he is still a past winner and a wealthy man. In-ho was a previous Squid Game winner himself, which is how he started working there.

If Gi-Hun continues to play, he is the most likely character to win it once again and would become the first 2-time winner in Squid Game history. Other viable contestants include Hyun-ju (Player 120), a former soldier who demonstrated great bravery and poise throughout the competition, and Dae-ho (Player 388) who appeared to be a capable player until he seemingly suffered a traumatic flashback from his time in the Marines. A wildcard winner could be Geum-ja (Player 149) who is an elderly fan-favorite. There’s also a chance the games aren’t completed for some reason inSquid Gameseason 3.
