Warning! Minor spoilers ahead for The Boys season 4.

Summary

The Boysstar Erin Moriarty shares her pick for a Starlight Supe kill in season 5. Created by Eric Kripke, the hit superhero parody show premiered on Prime Video in 2019, following Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie (Jack Quaid) as they attempt to take down Vought and its team of corrupt Supes. Starlight, aka Annie, has become a crucial figure in this escalating conflict, and she is one of the few members of Butcher’s crew to remain free at theend ofThe Boysseason 4, setting her up for a big role in season 5, the show’s last.

In a recent interview withComicBook.com, Moriarty is asked about who Starlight should kill inThe Boysseason 5. While Homelander (Antony Starr) is her first choice, the actor names The Deep (Chace Crawford) as one character she’d like to see Starlight take down, albeit under specific circumstances. Check out. Moriarty’s comment below:

“Listen, I personally, I think that as of this past season, all bets are off. I think that we had certain predictions. I think she should kill Homeander. I don’t think that want or desire will or can be met. Who knows? But she’s got to at least get The Deep, let me kill the fish guy at least, bare minimum for God’s sake…

“But it needs to be under circumstances where she’s provoked at first because that’s her. She can’t just go and kill someone. They need to attack her and it’s self defense because she’s Annie, but she’s got to get someone and I feel like people weren’t rooting for that as much until this past season. But that concept of a cathartic karma. I think we really need it. So all of the above, all of them.”

The Deep Isn’t Getting A Redemption Arc

The following contains a mention of sexual assault.

Homelander essentially serves asThe Boys' main villain and has since season 1. While Starr’s character has certainly wronged Starlight on a number of occasions, the show has been building toward a showdown between him and Butcher. For Starlight, taking down The Deep inThe Boysseason 5would actually be the best fit considering the history between the two characters.

Why Homelander Hasn’t Killed Butcher & The Boys Yet Finally Explained

Homelander’s decision not to kill the titular team in The Boys has always been strange, but season 4, episode 7 has finally explained why he doesn’t.

One of the first interactions between The Deep and Starlight comes in season 1 when Chace’s character forces her to perform oral sex on him. This traumatizing experience not only very quickly helps establish the world of the show and the attitude that these Vought Supes have, but it’s a major point of change for Starlight and something she has continued to carry with her.The Boysseason 4 does feature a brief fight between Starlight and The Deep, but it does seem likea grander conflict between the two is on the horizon.

Though the series has shown that even deeply flawedThe Boyscharactersare not beyond redemption, such as with A-Train (Jessie T. Usher),season 4 makes a point of making The Deep even more despicable. There doesn’t seem to be a redemption arc coming for The Deep, and he’s largely doubled down on his allegiance to Homelander, setting him up for a satisfying death scene. Starlight hasn’t traditionally been a character to dish out death sentences, butThe Boysseason 5 could certainly put more blood on her hands as the stakes continue to rise.
