Jujutsu Kaisen’s final chapter has finally been released and the biggest question on every fan’s mind has finally been answered, this being, what happened to Sukuna’s final fingerand whether he could use it to ever return in the future. The final chapter has finally given fans much-needed closure and addressed one of the biggest concerns about Sukuna, sealing his fate in the most fitting way possible.
Chapter #271 ofJujutsu Kaisenconclusively shuts the door on Sukuna’s return by revealing the fate of hisfinal finger which Nobara used Resonance onduring the final battle. In the chapter, after finishing their mission, Nobara asks Yuji what happened to Sukuna’s finger. Yuji then reveals that he got rid of it,confirming that the finger was not dangerous anymoreand could now make the perfect talisman.

The final page of the chapter subsequently reveals Sukuna’s mummified finger placed in a cushioned wooden box with a paper talisman on the lid stored similarly to the very first finger that Yuji and the Occult Club found at the start of the series. This all butconfirms that Sukuna’s soul has indeed lost its connection to the final finger, thus preventing him from ever returning.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Finale Shuts the Door on Sukuna’s Return
The Final Finger Does Not Contain Sukuna’s Soul Anymore
Initially thought to have been eaten by Rika, Sukuna’s final finger made an unexpected return in the final battle when it was revealed thatRika had eaten Yuji’s finger instead, leaving Nobara to use Resonance on Sukuna’s finger as the sorcerers' ultimate trump card. While the tactic worked,Sukuna’s finger was still as indestructibleas ever.
The question that remained even after Sukuna’s defeat was whether the final finger would cause any more trouble for the sorcerers, as the fingers possessed great Cursed Energy and attracted powerful curses as seen in countless instances inJujutsu Kaisen.

This question was partially answered in chapter #268 when Megumi speculated that if nineteen of the fingers were destroyed, then the last remaining finger probablywould not be able to house the entirety of Sukuna’s soul. Megumi’s theory has since been confirmed in thefinal chapter ofJujutsu Kaisen, whichlays any doubts to rest, revealing that the finger has lost any power it once had with Sukuna’s defeat.
