HBO executive Francesca Orsi has given a positive update on the future of another upcomingGame of Thronesspinoff series. Following the success ofHouse of the Dragon, HBO has moved forward with the development of a second prequel series,A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. While there’s been no official confirmation of its future beyond the six episodes due to premiere in 2025, authorGeorge R.R. Martin seemingly revealed development on season 2was already underway, fueling speculation about the show’s imminent renewal.

Now, perDeadline, Orsi addresses the show’s future. While only season 1 has been officially greenlit so far, she confirms HBO is exploring plans to develop all three of Martin’sTales of Dunk and Eggnovellas, meaning a potential three-season arc forA Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Beyond that, the report also mentions that she left the door open for more if Martin ever writes another novella in the series. Check out Orsi’s comments below:

Peter Claffey as Dunk/Ser Duncan the Tall in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms

“You’re going to be so impressed by Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell as Dunk and Egg, the two leads, the sort of brotherhood, the paternal nature between Dunk and this young man. So much so that we’re already planning on how do we build this for the three seasons in total. We’re not picking it up officially, but it’s looking very good. We’re looking at it as a holistic piece, seasons 2 and 3, because there’s three novellas.”

“The role of Egg only spans not even a year, so you have to roll into it season to season pretty quickly, because this little kid will grow up too quickly if we wait too long. So we’re thinking about that in terms of pickups.”
