For over one billion years,Khonshu’s Fists of Vengeancehave patrolled the Earth, protecting the night’s travelers and enforcing Khonshu’s will. Originally created out of jealousy from having been excluded by the Ancient Avengers, Khonshu’s Moon Knights are often malleable outcasts themselves thatthe God of the Mooncan more easily manipulate. During the era of the Christian crusades throughout Egypt and North Africa, Cassian, one of the newly revealed Moon Knights, waged war in indentured service to the English army. Nearly left dead in the heat of the desert,Khonshu offered his next champion a second life.
A Moon Knight’s costume is reflective of their key character traits.

Like Khonshu’s other avatars, Cassian’s deal for his life came at the cost of eternal servitude to Khonshu, and soon the once-crusader had become a powerful warrior designed to drive out the influence of other gods, evenApocalypse. Moving forward nearly 1000 years into the future, the series has introduced a new Fist of Vengeance from a grittier and more violent future.

However, that’s not to say that Moon Knight’s suits don’t change to fit the wielder; as seen with Cassian, a Moon Knight’s costume is reflective of their key character traits. When Lockley is present, he is usually seen wearing a leather coat and his iconic newsboy cap, qualities that look familiar in the new Moon Knight’s costume.

Moon Knight’s alter-ego, Mr. Knight, gets a killer cool new look with a 1970s disco suit as part of Marvels' Disco Dazzler variant cover series.
Jake Lockley, Marc’s gruff counterpart with deep connections in the criminal underworld, would likely feel at home in the crime-infested future of the series' second issue. Whilethis version of Khonshu’s avatarmay simply be a new variant, it wouldn’t be the first time the God of Vengeance has secretly preyed on Marc’s alters. As the series carries on, hopefully readers will continue to be introduced to moreMoon Knightsand reveal new chapters in Khonshu’s billion-year relationship with his Fists of Vengeance.
