Disney Dreamlight Valleyhas finally released its brand-new expansion pass,The Storybook Vale. The highly anticipated paid update for the game is the follow-up toDisney Dreamlight Valley’s first expansion pass,A Rift In Time, which was released in December 2023.The Storybook Valereleased its first installment, Part One, on November 20, and is scheduled to release Part Two in 2025, with even more content for players to enjoy. Thecontent introduced byThe Storybook Valeis vast, with many brand-new quests, characters, biomes, critters, and more to explore.

AlthoughA Rift In Timewas a successful expansion pass in itself, there are a few reasons whyThe Storybook Valeshines just that little bit more. It is evident thatDisney Dreamlight Valley’s developer, Gameloft, put an awful lot of thought into the production of this expansion pass, from the fairy tale aesthetic to its entertaining new quests. There is never a dull moment inThe Storybook Vale, and the developers have made the quests within the expansion pass far more enjoyable and intricate than some of the never-ending fetch quests thatA Rift In Timeoffered.

The Storybook Vale’s Fairy Tale World Aesthetic Enhances The Fantasy Of DDV

Three New Fantastical Biomes

The Storybook Valeexpansion pass has introduced a vast amount of brand-new content, butone of its most impressive new features is its three fantastical, enchanting biomes. With the entire world ofThe Storybook Valebeing based on magical fairy tales and literature, the overall feel while exploring the land is that it is the most enchanting place ever introduced inDisney Dreamlight Valley. InThe Storybook Vale’s primary biome, The Bind, a landscape of towering autumnal trees with bookshelves within their trunks offers a sight that is like something straight out of a fairy tale. Persimmon trees and sour berry bushes decorate The Bind and there’s even a sorcerer’s hat-wearing hermit crab to fish in the lake.

I’m Obsessed With This New Disney Dreamlight Valley Feature In Storybook Vale

One feature stands out in Disney Dreamlight Valley’s second DLC expansion, Storybook Vale as being one of the most fun additions to the game.

By simply exploring the world ofThe Storybook Vale, a player will come across Inkies, a substance which they will need to remove to obtain and collect Story Magic, which can be used to unlock other areas of the biomes in the expansion pass. One of the biomes a player can unlock is Everafter, a dark forest landscape decorated with bioluminescent moss and towering glowing mushrooms. While this is probably the most fairy tale-inspired biome inThe Storybook Vale, the third biome that players can unlock is inspired by Greek and Roman mythology, with the appropriate name of Mythopia. Here, players can expect to find magical Lightning Bolts to forage, and delicious food items to grow and cook with.

Disney Dreamlight Valley Sew Delightful with Merida

The Focus On Disney Princesses In Storybook Vale Makes DDV More Magical

Merida Stars & Aurora Is On The Way

Upon unlocking the world ofThe Storybook Valeand meeting Merida at the beginning of the expansion pass’s introduction quest, the story puts a strong amount of emphasis on Princess Aurora from Disney’sSleeping Beautyhaving gone missing. While it’s unclear if Aurora will make an appearance in Part One ofThe Storybook Vale, her presence has left a mark in the expansion pass as the medieval and fairy tale architecture that decorates its world seems to have been heavily inspired by the world ofSleeping Beauty. The focus on the princess is sure to please Disney fans who have a significant amount of nostalgia when it comes to the company’s iconic Princesses, who are a huge part of the brand’s success.

DDV’s Most Magical Critters Can Be Collected

A New Critter For Each Storybook Vale Biome

In every new biome inThe Storybook Valeexpansion pass there are brand-new crittersthat players can learn to approach, feed, befriend, and collect as companions. In The Bind, players will find Owls, with four different types to collect: Blue, Brown, Purple, Dark, and Light Owls. Each of the different types of Owls show up in different areas of The Bind and have different appearance schedules, with both the Purple and Light Owls appearing every day. When a player learns to approach, feed and win an Owl’s trust, they will be able to have an Owl as a companion, an option that is fit for fans of witchcraft and wizardry who have always wished for an Owl for a familiar.

While Owls are an adorable critter addition inDisney Dreamlight Valley, thetwo other critter types that have been introduced inThe Storybook Valeare the two most magical fantasy critters that the game has seen so far: Baby Dragons and Pegasi. Baby Dragons can be found in Everafter, with four different types appearing at various different times throughout the week. They are a little shy, but a player can win them over byfeeding the Baby Dragonssome magical Gems, Magma or Pure Ice. In Mythopia, players will discover baby Pegasi energetically running around, who enjoy playing a game of chasing before being approached. There are also four different types of Pegasi for players to collect.

The Storybook Vale’s abundance of new content not only offers new gameplay avenues for players to explore, but it ultimately enhancesDisney Dreamlight Valleyitself. Although theA Rift In Timeexpansion pass featured many interesting items, characters and quests, the fairy tale themes and fantasy elements thatThe Storybook Valehas introduced have been missing from the game since its initial launch in 2022. Because one of the core themes that Disney is known for is its ability to bring fairy tales to life, the absence of a fairy tale-themed world was quite apparent inDisney Dreamlight Valley, but the introduction ofThe Storybook Valecan now fill the void for any players who had been desiring a land fit for a fantasy escape.

Disney Dreamlight Valley

In Disney Dreamlight Valley, players will create their own Disney avatar as they interact with some of the most iconic characters in Disney and Pixar history. The story surrounds the dream castle and the realm it resides in, which is a place where several characters, hero and villain alike, have lived together in harmony. However, an evil force known as the Forgetting consumes the kingdom. It’s up to the player to solve puzzles, reunite characters, and embark on feature-rich character storylines to save the Dream realm.
