How Will The Rings Of Power Season 2 Fare With Audiences?
Season 1 Of The Lord Of The Rings Show Proved Controversial
For the most part,The Rings of Powerseason 2’s reviewsecho many of the same complaints from season 1. Though the sophomore outing boasts some impressive production design and visual effects that match or exceed those of Hollywood blockbusters, critics do take issue with human-level drama. While there’s a glossy coat of paint on the series and it presents a jaw-dropping vision of Middle-earth, some reviews state that it still struggles when it comes to emotional storytelling.
The Rings of Powerseason 1 reviewsfrom critics may have been mostly warm, if not somewhat lukewarm, but the audience response was more critical. It must be mentioned that at least some of the negative response to season 1 was due to the show’s diverse cast, and theLord of the Ringsseries became the unfortunate target of review bombing. This shameful and racist behavior aside, viewers also had other complaints regarding the show’s departure from elements of Tolkien lore and the depiction of Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), who was more brash than the Elf seen in Peter Jackson’s trilogy.
It’s very likely thatThe Rings of Powerseason 2 will be met with some of the same review bombing as season 1. Given the critics' reviews thus far,it also seems likely that those who weren’t charmed by season 1 will find many of the same issues in this latest outing. For those who enjoyedThe Rings of Powerseason 1, though, season 2 seems to be offering up more of the same on an even grander scale, along with a compelling exploration of Sauron (Charlie Vickers).
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Powerseason 2 premieres on August 29 on Prime Video.
