Summary
Galactus' daughter, Galacta, hasn’t had much time to shine in Marvel’s comic universe. In one of her few appearances, her original design was revealed, being a much different take on the character. Ultimately, she ended up looking even more like her father than she initially did in Elsevilla’s early designs.
Galacta, also referred to as Gali, first appeared in 2009, inMarvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular #2. Her only other appearance in comics has been inGalacta: Daughter of Galactus(2010), a 4-issue series. She was created by Adam Warren and Hector Sevilla Lujan, who is better known as Elsevilla.

Soon, Galacta will be included as part of the upcoming video game,Marvel Rivals. She has been revealed as a non-playable character, alongside Doctor Doom. Given her general lack of presence relative to other Marvel characters in comics despite the larger than life status of her father, her inclusion inMarvel Rivalsis highly notable.

InMarvel Assistant-Sized Spectacular #2, the story “Galacta (or, ‘The World-Eater’s Daughter’)” has the creative team of Adam Warren, Hector Sevilla Lujan, Simon Bowland, and Jordan D. White. It reveals the way the titular heroine uses her constant appetite in the favor of her Earth, instead of against it the way her father is known for.Galacta chooses to eat alien threats, such as extraterrestrial viruses or other bioweapons that would threaten the world she now inhabits in the guise of a human. The issue also included a look at Galacta’s first design, preceding her final one that made her muchmore similar to Galactus visually.
The art style of Galacta’s in-issue design has a manga-style compared to the cover of the issue, which has a traditionally American comic style. Her costume also appears different between all three versions as a result of the final design and stylization of it in each instance. Her concept design featured more gold tones as her primary, with purple accents. It also changed the shape of her headdress, making itmore like Galactus' traditional helmetand much less curved. Gali’s final design is completely purple, eliminating the previous gold idea, but also leaving out Galactus' combination by leaving out blue tones.

Galacta is Underutilized Despite Huge Potential

Galacta hasn’t had manyopportunities to shine on her own. Given her decision to be more heroic regarding her diet, it’ll be interesting to see if this continues intoMarvel Rivalswhen she makes her in-game debut. As the daughter of such a powerful villain, Galacta could have readily been one of Marvel’s biggest baddies. Instead, she has largely fallen to the wayside despite the potential to be a useful ally to teams like the X-Men and the Avengers against alien threats. Marvel’s final design for Galacta differs greatly from her early designs, making her readily recognizable asGalactus' daughter despite her own identity and life choices.
