Captain Americais one of the most important characters in the MCU, being heavily featured in tons of movies and getting three movies of his own. While Cap has gone up against several villains over his time in the MCU, he still has three major villains that he’s never faced on the big screen.
Captain America has been around in comic books for alongtime. Naturally, this has led him to gain quite the rogues gallery, but the MCU hasn’t managed to explore the most important villains that he’s faced off against in the comics. Tonshaveshown up, such as Flag-Smasher, Baron Zemo, Arnim Zola, Red Skull, Modok, Batroc, and Crossbones, but three major villains have yet to be seen.

There are tons of great movies in the MCU and theCaptain Americatrilogy of films is some of the best, but they were never really able to focus on his villains. Only the first one, which showcased Red Skull, actually had a Captain America villain front and center. Otherwise,Captain America: Winter SoldierandCaptain America: Civil War, focused more on Captain America’s relationships with other heroic characters, such as Bucky Barnes and Tony Stark respectively.

Three Major Captain America Villains Have Yet To Appear
Captain America: The Legend– Written By Mark Gruenwald; Art By Jason Franzone, Comicraft & Paul Becton
While Madam Hydradidappear inAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. that show, unfortunately, isn’t canon.Madam Hydra, later known as Viper, is one of Captain America’s deadliest and most destructive enemies. Her thirst for chaos is so great that Red Skull once teamed up with Captain America to stop her. She would make an absolutely perfect movie villain, especially after the collapse of Hydra. She would have every motivation to bring the organization back, and she could make itsignificantlymore deadly than ever before considering her penchant for destruction.
While most of Captain America’s villains try to defeat him with their brawn, Johann Faustus is all about using his brain.

Another major dangerous villain that has yet to appear is Dr. Faustus, a deranged psychiatrist with a near-hypnotic voice. Faustus is stated to be the greatest psychiatrist in the world, which is why it’s so unfortunate that he’s ridiculously evil. While most of Captain America’s villains try to defeat him with their brawn, Johann Faustus is all about using his brain.Considering that the MCU loves pairing up Sam Wilson’s Captain America with Bucky Barnes, Johann could make the perfect villain for them both. He could reactivate Bucky’s Hydra programming through hypnosis or play on Sam’s doubts as Captain America.
The MCU Might Be Working Towards Introducing Machinesmith
It’s Possible This Villain Exists In The MCU Already
While the MCU has done its best to explore its characters and their history, sometimes some supplemental material is necessary. That’s where the MCU comic books come in, such asCaptain America: The Winter Soldier Prelude. This story involved Captain America and Black Widow going after a group of villains who have stolen a bioweapon from S.H.I.E.L.D. The leader of this group was a man known as the Baker, who curiously isn’t a comic book character. But he definitelylookedlike the Machinesmith. It’s possible the MCU could be revisiting this idea in the future.
The Machinesmith would make a perfect villain, considering just how much technology the MCU has. Especially with the fact that there’splentyof Iron Man armor around. The Machinesmith could easily transfer his consciousness into one, granting him significant power. He could take over Vision’s old body, or he could even possibly find an Ultron body that wasn’t destroyed. There are tons of things that a villain who can possess mechanics could do in the MCU, and it’d work as a perfect foil for any version of Captain America.

Captain America Still Has To Face These Three Major Villains
Sam Wilson Is Certainly Up To The Job
While Steve Rogers may no longer be Captain America in the MCU, that doesn’t mean that these iconic villains should never get the chance to shine. While their dynamic with Sam Wilson would be significantly different, there are still plenty of things that could be explored. One of the most important parts of establishing a hero is giving them fantastic villains to fight. While Sam Wilson is posed to face off against Red Hulk inCaptain America: Brave New World, perhaps the next villain the MCU could turn to is one of these three missing iconicCaptain Americavillains.
