Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episodes 1 & 2
TheMCUhas just introduced three potential recruits for one of its Avengers replacement teams. As seen at the end ofThe Marvels, Kamala Kahn’s Ms. Marvel revealed that she was planning on building a team of Young Avengers, the next generation of superheroes. To that end, the MCU’s newest project has presented three possible additions to the roster inYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

As seen in the premiere episodes of the new animated seriesYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,Peter Parker is personally invited by Norman Osborn to join the Oscorp Internship Programin this alternate MCU timeline, rather than becoming Iron Man’s protégé as seen in the main MCU timeline. Likewise, the internship program is revealed to be a real thing, rather than being just a cover, allowing Spider-Man to join Iron Man inCaptain America: Civil Warand later patrol the streets. As such, Peter Parker’s fellow interns have some familiar and exciting names from the comics, perhaps opening the door for future Young Avengers recruitment.
The Young Avengers Already Have Several MCU Recruits
Plenty of Potential Heroes To Choose From
A new Avengers team is set to be formed in the next few MCU movies. This is especially true considering bothAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Warsare on the horizon as the culminating movies of the Multiverse Saga. However, new groups of heroes are still being formed as “replacement” teams, such as the Thunderbolts, as well as some version of the Young Avengers, which has already been teased thanks to Ms. Marvel.
Several young heroes have been introduced throughout the MCU’s Multiverse Saga who could become Young Avengers in the future. Beyond Ms. Marvel and Kate Bishop’s Hawkeye (the first hero Kamala approached inThe Marvels’post-credits scene), there’s also Cassie Lang’s Stature, Riri Williams' Ironheart, Kid Loki, America Chavez, Hulk’s son Skaar, Eli Bradley, T’Challa’s son, and a teenaged Billy Maximoff’s Wiccan who recently debuted inAgatha All Along(alongside teases for Billy’s brother Tommy aka Speed).

Kamala and Kate Bishop did discuss recruiting Cassie Lang inThe Marvels’post-credits scene. Likewise, there was also a recent promo video featuring Cassie, Riri, and America together as part ofDisney Cruise Line’s Disney Wish and its Worlds of Marvel experience. However, the official roster of Young Avengers in the MCU has yet to be fully revealed. While not every young hero will likely be a member of the Young Avengers, it’s pretty clear that introducing the next generation of heroes is pretty high on Marvel Studios' list of priorities.
Do They Exist In The Main MCU Timeline Too?

Now,Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manhas introduced three more potential candidates who could become amazing Young Avengers. While they’ve thus far only been confirmed as characters in this alt-MCU timeline, nothing says that they couldn’t also exist in the main MCU, especially if audiences respond well to Peter’s fellow interns. Here’s a breakdown of each new character introduced inYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Manand their comics history as Marvel superheroes.
Jeanne Foucault - Finesse
In the comics, Jeanne Foucault goes by the name Finesse. Born with the ability to master any skill at rapid speed, Jeanne was eventually approached to join the Avengers Academy. She also has a history with Norman Osborn on the page during Marvel’sSiegeevent, and Tony Masters' Taskmaster is allegedly her father (which would explain her abilities), though this likely wouldn’t be the case considering the origins of the MCU’s Taskmaster aka Antonia Dreykov. That said, it’s easy to see how Finesse could be an impressive Black Widow-type replacement for the Young Avengers, assuming this on-screen version has the same gifts.
Amadeus Cho - Brawn
Extremely confident and incredibly smart,Amadeus Cho is a true mastermind and becomes a friend to Bruce Banner’s Hulkin the comics. While still retaining his genius, Cho eventually becomes a brand-new Hulk on the page, going by the name Brawn. He’d also end up joining The Champions, a young team of heroes not unlike the Young Avengers and led by Ms. Marvel, Miles Morales' Spider-Man, and Nova. Additionally, Amadeus' mother Helen already exists in the main MCU timeline, having been seen working with the Avengers in 2015’sAge of Ultron.
Asha - Wakandan Warrior
The fourth member of Oscorp’s intern team is Asha, who hails from Wakanda and was assigned to the company’s aerospace division.Possessing several light-based abilities in the comics, Asha was recruited to the Wakandan School for Alternative Studies. She was also one of three students chosen to represent her school in the Contest of Champions and helped fight off Thanos' invasion of Earth as seen in Marvel’sInfinity: The Hunt. To that end, it would be very exciting to see a gifted and brilliant Wakandan warrior potentially joining the Young Avengers.
I Want More Of YFNS' New Breed Of Heroes
Young Avengers Or Not, They’d Be Very Exciting Heroes
On the page, Finesse had to grapple with the fact that she was profiled by the Avengers Academy as most likely to become a villain. As such, it would be fascinating if this aspect of her character somehow emerged inYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Likewise, perhaps Amadeus could start experimenting with gamma radiation, believing that he could succeed where Banner failed, only to become a Hulk himself. Furthermore, perhaps Asha is an undercover agent working on a mission for Wakanda.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’s Premiere Episodes Retell Peter Parker’s MCU Introduction: All 30 Easter Eggs And References Explained
The first two episodes of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man feature some very cool Easter eggs and references to Peter Parker’s MCU debut.
Assuming their characters also exist in the main MCU timeline, all three of Peter Parker’s fellow interns could stand to become impressive members of the Young Avengers. However, even if they don’t, I would still love to see each of them evolve to become the heroes they are in the original Marvel Comics in this new animated series. At any rate, it will be very exciting to see how all three of these new MCU characters evolve asYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Mancontinues, and perhaps debut in the main MCU one day.
