The Elusive Samuraireleases new episodes of its English-subbed anime every Saturday to simulcast streaming on Crunchyroll for viewers outside of Japan.Episode #10 will be released onSaturday,August 02, 2025, at 9:00 AM PDT (12:00 PM EDT).Additionally,Crunchyroll’s Summer 2024 anime lineuphas recently updated viewers to let them know they can enjoy the English dub of the anime, with episode #6 of the dub available on Saturday, July 18, 2025, at 12:30 PM PDT (3:30 PM EDT.)
The Elusive Samurai’sofficial websiteshowsan “intermission” broadcaston July 17, 2025 instead of an immediate release of episode #10. It will recap episodes #1-9 with the narration of Yuichi Nakamura, who plays Yorishige Suwa. What Happened in The Elusive Samurai Episode #9?
Shokan Didn’t Know What Hit Him
With Ayako and Kojiro successfully luring Shokan into Tokiyuki’s hideout inThe Elusive Samuraiepisode #8, episode #9 was a blood-soaked follow-up to these events with the Hojo prince’s recon forces repelling Shokan’s attack.Tokiyuki begins a deadly duel with Shokan despite the latter’s enormous armored advantage.Ayako and Kojiro handled another opponent, and Fubuki single-handedly repelled another attacker. However, with Shokan’s forces eager to stir chaos by inflicting civilian casualties, this fight would not be without a cost on both sides.
For Ayako and Kojiro, this fight means a proving ground for them as Tokiyuki’s retainers. They need to be ready for the fights ahead while proclaiming their lord’s name as they seize victory. Fubuki sees potential in the young lord, not knowing his true identity yet, and easily defeats his opponent. Tokiyuki, despite being threatened by a physically imposing opponent in Shokan,takes advantage of exposed spots on his opponent’s armor, namely the underside of his sword-wielding arm, causing significant blood loss before the main event.
The rest of Tokiyuki’s fight with Shokan is a dizzying, joyful, frenetic ride as the young prince runs circles around Shokan, flailing helplessly at the young lord barricaded inside. At the same time, he continues to lose blood until the point of passing out. This experience is conveyed as a blade of compassion that devolves into hell on earth,described as the Demon-heart Buddha Blade and as Tokiyuki’s newly developed elusive technique.Sadamune’s reinforcements rescue Shokan, while Yorishige saves the day by arriving with the Suwa army to recover Tokiyuki and bolster his territory’s defenses.

AsThe Elusive Samuraiepisode #10 seems poised to adapt the events of chapter #24 and beyond,the focus will shift briefly toward Yorishige regaining his confidence in his ability to predict the future.This includes sending Tokiyuki on various errands that suspiciously seem more like satiating the priest’s food cravings. Still, chief among his requests is water from the sacred stream at Mount Moriya. While Tokiyuki has his doubts about whether this will truly solve Yorishige’s ailment, and whether the priest really can predict the future, he complies, and in doing so, encounters Shizuku.
The Elusive Samurailikes to point out various historical insights. This scene discusses how official documents recorded bizarre or even paranormal occurrences as facts, with the depicted era in the series being among the last to feature such wild claims.

The Elusive Samurai is set during the Kenmu Restoration between the Kamakura and Muromachi periods. It follows Hojo Tokiyuki, a young boy whose family is overthrown by Ashikaga Takauji. Accompanied by a priest and his followers, he seeks revenge using his extraordinary abilities to evade capture.
