The ambitious biblical epic seriesThe Chosenhas already completed five compelling seasons thus far, and the show is renewed for a sixth and seventh as well. Created by filmmaker Dallas Jenkins back in 2017, the show is the first to attempt to tell the biblical story of the life of Jesus across a massive multi-season arc. Bringing familiar stories from the Bible to life with an historical but faith-based approach,The Chosenquickly began to pick up steam as the independently-produced program was seen by more and more people around the globe via streaming.
In a truly unique approach to television production,The Chosenwas crowdfunded during its first season, but quickly blossomed into a massive enterprise due to a worldwide outpouring of support. Subsequent seasons saw theatrical releases before being available to stream online, and the little-show-that-could even nabbed international distribution through Lionsgate. Now, season 5 has begun to take the story into the latterdays of Jesus' life, with the last supper and Jesus' betrayal being the primary focus. In order to complete the story,The Chosenhas been scripted out across seven installments, both of which are already confirmed.

The Series Lands A New Streaming Home
After years of rights issues regarding streaming, the latest news confirms thatThe Chosenhas landed a new streaming home (viaIndie Wire). Because the show was made available to stream in so many different locations online, the biblical epic was mired in rights issues as the show began to become more popular. Now,Amazon MGM has inked a deal that will make Prime Video the exclusive home to all five seasonsof the show thus far, as well as the upcoming sixth and seventh seasons that are coming soon.
The deal between Dallas Jenkins’ 5&2 Studios and Amazon MGM actually goes much deeper and will include streaming rights to the upcoming reality seriesThe Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls, and could presumably include future projects too.It will also make Amazon MGM the distributor for the theatrical releasesof seasons 6 and 7.

The Chosen Season 6 Is Confirmed
Dallas Jenkins Will Finish Jesus' Story
Unlike most TV shows which rely on a network of streaming platforms to renew or cancel them,The Chosen’s independent production model means the series will get made if it has funding. With money no longer an object for the blockbuster theatrical and streaming hit,Dallas Jenkins' promise to tell a seven-season story is most likely going to be kept. This means that season 6 is confirmed, though production details are scant for the moment. With the focus still very much on the theatrical release of season 5, it will likely take a while for news regarding season 6 to surface.
The Chosenseason 5 part 1 premiered in theaters on June 25, 2025.

The show has been on an almost yearly clip since 2019, and despite being an independent production, has had few problems when it comes to delivering new episodes in a timely manner. This means that2026 is the most logical release window forThe Chosenseason 6, and with added help from a major distributor like Amazon MGM, it’s an entirely realistic production timeline.
The Chosen Season 6 Cast Details
Jesus & His Disciples Return Once Again
Predictingthe cast ofThe Chosenseason 6 isn’t particularly difficult since it has maintained a consistent ensemble since season 1. With Jesus at the heart of the story,it’s certain that Jonathan Roumie will be back to play the central figure once again. Jesus' apostles have stuck by his side for five seasons thus far, including Shahar Isaac as Simon, George Xanthis as John, Paras Patel as Matthew, and Jordan Walker Ross as Little James to name a few. However, it remains to be seen if season 5 will show the inevitable end of Luke Dimyan’s Judas, so it’s unclear if he’ll be back in season 6.
The Chosen Season 6 Story Details
Season 6 Will Cover The Crucifixion Of Jesus
This will perhaps be the biggest challenge forThe Chosenthus far, as nearly every portrayal of Jesus' execution needs to be appropriately harrowing.
BecauseThe Chosenis based on the stories told within the Bible, it is quite easy to figure out what comes next in the timeline. Dallas Jenkins laid out his seven-season plan that includes the basic framework for seasons 6 and 7, which will be the final two outings for the main series. With season 5 covering the last supper and Jesus' eventual betrayal, season 6 is going to concern his crucifixion and death. This will perhaps be the biggest challenge forThe Chosenthus far, as nearly every portrayal of Jesus' execution needs to be appropriately harrowing.

However,The Chosenhas always been a somewhat family-friendly series, and it remains to be seen how they will approach such a violent part of the tale. Previous adaptations likeThe Passion of the Christhave leaned into the horrific elements, but the series will probably offer a somewhat tamer approach. Regardless,The Chosenseason 6 will largely serve to set up the story of season 7, which is planned to cover Jesus' resurrection and eventual ascension to heaven.
