The SyFy Channel found its next big hit withThe Ark, and the interstellar thriller is set to return for a brand-new third season soon. While on its journey across the stars, the ship suffers a disaster which kills most of its crew and leaves the remaining survivors with the difficult task of successfully piloting the battered ship to their new destination.
Despite its very simple premise, the SyFy Channel originalshines because it puts an emphasis on the characters and how they react to their predicament. Season 2 saw the crew ofArk Onereach their destination, only to discover that the planet is a barren waste that isn’t suitable for a human population. They eventually found the planet Trappist 1D, but it wasn’t without its own set of unique threats. Two Branching Storylines Could Dominate Season 3
Though the ending ofthe interplanetary sci-fi show’s second season was somewhat positive, it also left the door open for a few twists as well. After eliminating Maddox’s threat, the crew ofArk Onedecide to set out in search of the missingArkships, and that presents them with all sorts of challenges. On top of the general threat of space travel, there’s also the relationships which are being strained by the impossibly long distance. With many remaining on Trappist 1b to help with the colony, many bonds may not hold.
Speaking of those left behind on Trappist 1b, the final moments of season 2 weren’t without their own shocking twists, asthe discovery of a stone tablet reveals there was once (or maybe still is) advanced life on the planet. This opens the door for a serious threat to the colonists' lives as the indigenous inhabitants of the planet might not like their encroachment. However, if the previous inhabitants are all dead, the colonists may end up perishing the same way unless they can change course. The Arkseason 3 has a lot of threads to pull, and it may feature a branching storyline.
