Following theChicago Fireseason 12 finale, Kelly Severide and Jack Damon have been getting closer as brothers, but season 13, episode 3, might have put a permanent end to their developing relationship.Severide learns that he and Damonare half-brothers inChicago Fire, which makes him protective ofthe younger character. However, Damon crosses a line near the beginning of season 13, forcing Severide to choose either his brother’s side or his wife’s, Stella Kidd. Unfortunately, by episode 3’s ending,Damon’s actions and Severide’s choice result in a falling out between the two characters.
One of the majorcliffhangers in theChicago Fireseason 12 finale concerns Severidediscovering his true connection to Damon, who recently joined Kidd’s Truck 81 team at Firehouse 51. Viewers had to wait until the season 13 premiere to learn Severide’s reaction to the news. He is seemingly excited in episode 1 as he commits to taking Damon under his wing at the station. Meanwhile, Damon, who idolizes Severide, is thrilled to learn from him. But sooner rather than later,Damon’s youth rears its ugly head, showcasing his immaturityand sense of entitlement over being Severide’s brother.

Damon’s Actions In Chicago Fire Season 13 Put Him Back In The Floater Pool
Atthe beginning ofChicago Fireseason 13, episode 2, Firehouse 51 responds to a call regarding a woman stuck underneath a boat.Kidd gives Damon specific orders at the scene, but he ignores them to play the hero.She later confronts him about his disobedience, but Damon claims he couldn’t hear his lieutenant. However, Damon later confesses to Severide that he heard Kidd, and Severide has to decide whether to protect his younger brother or tell his wife the truth. He ultimately chooses to confess to Kidd, betraying Damon’s trust in Damon’s eyes. One episode later, Damon is dismissed from Firehouse 51.
Chicago Fire Season 13 Makes Its Casey & Brett’s Replacement Clear In The Premiere
After Matt Casey and Sylvie Brett’s exit from Chicago Fire, the season 13 premiere quickly established which couple would be their replacement.
Kidd meets with Chief Dom Pascal in episode 3, to inform him of Damon’s misconduct and explains that she wants to put him back into the floater pool. However, she doesn’t get the response that she wants. Pascal initially blames Kidd as he is wary of Truck 81’s high turnover rate and is upset that Kidd never expressed doubts about Damon before. So,the new chief debates whether Kidd or Damon should leave.Mouch comes to her rescue, though, and shows Pascal evidence of why Kidd is a fantastic leader. Consequently,Pascal fires Damon inChicago Fireseason 13, episode 3.
How Damon’s Firing Unexpectedly Ends His Relationship With Severide

As mentioned above, Damon’s youth and immaturity play a significant role in his firing and subsequentfight with Severide inChicago Fireseason 13, episode 3. After Pascal excuses him from Firehouse 51, Damon confronts his brother. He is quite angry that Severide would tell Kidd the truth about his actions during the boat call, essentially blaming Severide for his firing.Damon claims that Severide abandoned him, and goes as far as to say that he’s just like their father,Benny Severide.
Now that Damon no longer works at Firehouse 51 and the two brothers had a falling out, this could be the end for Severide and Damon, as Damon might be leaving theChicago Fireseason 13 cast.
It might be safe to say thatSeveride and Damon’s relationship is irreparable after episode 3.Comparing Severide to his father is probably the worst thing anyone can do to him. Plus, knowing Damon’s own turbulent history with Benny, Damon putting Severide into the same category as their father could be a point of no return for him, as well. Now that Damon no longer works at Firehouse 51 and the two brothers had a falling out, this could be the end for Severide and Damon, as Damon might be leavingtheChicago Fireseason 13 cast.

Even thoughBenny continues sabotaging Severide’s life inChicago Fireseason 13, perhaps Severide and Damon will eventually make amends. It will be hard to come back from their fight at the end of episode 3, but nothing is impossible.Damon transferring to another firehouse certainly makes repairing the two brothers' relationship very difficult,though.

Severide hasn’t had the best of luck concerning his family, and he deserves a brother who doesn’t resent him, put him on a pedestal, or compare him to his father. So, the originalOne ChicagoTV showmust find a way to continue Severide and Damon’s relationship.Damon could be a recurring character who occasionally pops in and out of Severide’s life(after the two forgive one another, of course). Or, somehow, someway, Damon is welcomed back to Firehouse 51 and he and Severide can learn how to simultaneously have a healthy working dynamic and a personal relationship inChicago Fire.
