Warning: Spoilers ahead for That ’90s Show part 3!

Summary

That ’90s Showpart 3 may have discreetly explained what happened to Laurie Forman after the events ofThat ’70s Show, thanks to a quick and hilarious reveal from Kitty and Red. As Eric’s older sister and the daughter of Red and Kitty, Laurie was a recurring character throughoutThat ’70s Show’s timeline. She had multiple relationships with Eric’s friends, including Kelso and Fez, adding to the contention among the Forman family. Though Laurie didn’t appear inThat ’70s Show’s final two seasons, she’s still been mentioned.

Christina Moore was recast as Laurie inThat ’70s Showseason 6, taking over the role from Lisa Robin Kelly, who originated the antagonistic character. Sadly, Kelly passed away in 2013, and Moore hasn’t returned to the sequel series, meaning Laurie is one of the few significant'70s Showcharacters missing fromThat ’90s Show. In some ways, Sherri has become Laurie’s new replacement, but Red and Kitty have mentioned their daughter a few times. The latest episode to feature a Laurie reference may have indicated where she’s been.

That ’90s Show Part 3’s Laurie Mention Suggests She Could Be In Jail

Laurie Committed A Serious Crime After That ’70s Show

That ’90s Showpart 3 pays off Eric’sStar Warsobsession, but it also seemingly gives insight into what Laurie has been up to sinceThat ’70s Showended. In part 3, episode 5, “Life Is a Highway,” Kitty tries to give Sherri and Otis advice on how to deal with an angry teenage daughter. Kitty then mentions Gwen stealing the truck before revealing thatLaurie went on to “rob a K-Mart with her pastor for no apparent reason,” as Red shakes his head in the background. Kitty’s reveal and Red’s reaction could very well hint that Laurie ended up in jail afterThat ’70s Show.

One interesting point surrounding Kitty’s mention of Laurie is that she says her daughter robbed the store rather than stating she stole something. Robbing suggests a much bigger offense, which could have resulted in jail time for Laurie. That ’70s Showcontinuously proved that Laurie wasn’t an angel, even if Red didn’t want to fully admit it, butjail would certainly explain why Laurie has been absent. If Laurie were locked up for a serious crime, it would also explain why she’s hardly mentioned, as the truth might be difficult for Red and Kitty to accept.

Why Laurie Ending Up Being In Jail Makes Sense For The That ’70s Show Character

ConsideringThat ’90s Showonly goes out of its way to refer to Laurie’s troublesome past, the show could be setting up the confirmation of Laurie’s fate.

It’s unclear if the pastor Kitty mentions would be Pastor Dave fromThat ’70s Show, a character who is indirectly present for a scene at the video store inThat ’90s Showpart 1. Granted,Laurie seduced Pastor Dave and had a knack for corrupting older authoritative figures, so it would be fathomable to think she could have convinced another pastor to carry out a robbery with her. Before part 3’s mention, the only other time Laurie was directly referred to was when Kitty admitted to keeping pregnancy tests on hand for her daughter.

ConsideringThat ’90s Showonly goes out of its way to refer to Laurie’s troublesome past, the show could be setting up the confirmation of Laurie’s fate. A version of the character may never return, but just like how the sequel provides updates on Eric’s life when he’s not around, it would be fun to learn more about what happened to Laurie after her brief marriage to Fez. Then again, Kitty’s line questioning if anyone had seen Laurie inThat ’70s Show’s series finalealso suggests that Laurie’s real fate will be kept a mystery.
