The Boston-based studio behind an upcoming multiplayer game set inThe Witcheruniverse has been absorbed into CD Projekt Red. The multiplayerWitchergame, known only asProject Sirius, remains a mystery. Its existence was first hinted at in 2022, when job listings revealed thatCDPR was working on a multiplayer gamepertaining to one of its IPs.
But it’s official: The Molasses Flood, the lead studio behindProject Sirius, has now merged with CDPR according to a pop-up onThe Molasses Flood’s official website, via a new report fromVG247. The message reads, “We want to let you know that on Jul 30, 2025, The Molasses Flood LLC (“TMF”) merged with CD PROJEKT RED Inc. (“CDPR Inc.”), a company being a part of the CD PROJEKT Group. As a result of the merger TMF, in its former legal state (of a separate legal entity) ceased its operations, while CDPR Inc. assumed the rights and obligations of TMF.”

What This Means For “Project Sirius”
Multiplayer Witcher Is Allegedly Still In The Works
As far as we can tell, the upcomingWitchermultiplayer game is still in pre-production, despite the merge. Staff at The Molasses Flood will continue their work onProject Siriusas part of the wider CDPR group. Nor will its absorption affect the availability of The Molasses Flood’s two previous titles,The Flame in the FloodandDrake Hollow, which will “continue to be published by CD PROJEKT Group,” per the announcement on its website.
Incredible Witcher Ciri Cosplay Fools Fans Into Thinking It’s A Figurine
A stunning cosplay of Ciri from The Witcher franchise has captured the attention of many fans for its great costuming and unique video presentation.
However,Molasses Flood co-founder and former Project Sirius design director/principal architect Damian Isla elected to depart the studioamid the merger with CD Projekt. In a post onLinkedIn(also viaVG247) about his departure, Isla makes it apparent that the decision was his, and appears to be totally optimistic about bothProject Sirius' future and the merge itself. “To be ultra clear: this is a GOOD AND HEALTHY thing for the studio,” he says, going on to callProject Sirius"an amazing game, one for the books."

The Witcher Franchise Has Some Big Projects Ahead
More Than Project Sirius
BesidesProject Sirius, there’s a lot ofWitcherstill to come. Thefourth season of its TV seriesis supposedly coming soon, moving forward with new star Liam Hemsworth following Henry Cavill’s departure from the show. It also recently saw the release of ananimated film,Sirens of the Deep, released this past February. And of course, there’sThe Witcher 4, announced in a trailer at last year’s Game Awards, butlikely still a long ways away.
The same can likely be said ofProject Sirius; it’s had a tumultuous development cycle so far, apparently having been reset and further delayed by Molasses Flood layoffs in 2023. With its principal architect’s departure,Project Siriusis likely still a long way off; it could be multiple years before we hear even whisperings of a multiplayerWitcher. If nothing else, fans can take solace in the fact that there are plenty of major releases inThe Witcherseries coming to hold them over.
