Thanoswas one of the best parts ofSquid Gameseason 2, but some interesting scenes featuring the character were cut from the show.Squid Gameseason 2 introduced a whole host of new characters to the deadly games alongside the returning champion, Gi-hun. However, this season has also given rise to a new breed of players, who appear far more bloodthirsty and happy to participate in the brutal events, with one player in particular standing out in several scenes.

Thanos, a former rapper who lost a fortune buying cryptocurrencies, is a major presence inSquid Gameseason 2. His actions lead directly to the deaths of other players, and he is frequently seen pushing others to continue participating in the games, but a different side to the antagonist was shown briefly in adeleted scene fromSquid Gameseason 2. Had the scene been left in, it could havefurther enhanced the character of Thanos, but it makes sense why it was cut in the end.

Squid Game Season 2 Cut The Thanos Team Scene From Six-Legged Pentathlon

While the players are seen participating in a tense six-legged race, which is made even more difficult thanks to a series of minigames being thrown in, entire teams live or die depending on the skill and abilities of their allies. Evidently, this can lead to tension between players, especially when things go wrong. And this can be seen in abehind the scenes clip which gave greater insightabout some of the other teams who only appeared briefly on-screen during this game.

Watch Out Squid Game, These 2 Netflix Shows Are Coming For Your Record In 2025

Squid Game’s second season made the series one of Netflix’s most viewed projects, but two returning shows look set to fight for its record in 2025.

In filming, it appears that the entire run for multiple teams was filmed in full. Of course, this makes sense to develop the story, but when trying to fit into a short episode of TV, a lot of additional scenes were cut down. Including a scene whereNam-gyu, a close friend of Thanos, is seen dropping the spinning top. This leads to another player yelling at Nam-gyu, before, in order to raise his friend’s spirits,Thanos shakes his friend and tells him in broken English “Let’s do this s*** bro.” And despite the brevity of the scene, it does show a side to Thanos that appears compassionate and caring.

The Pentathlon Led To A Lot Of Great Squid Game Moments

And while this specific moment was cut from the Pentathlon sequence, Thanos does appear a lot.Thanos can be seen behaving in an erratic manneras he dances, yells, and appears genuinely excited despite the dangerous circumstances. However, none of his scenes at that moment featured any dialogue, or even communication between the team. Yet, Thanos' successful attempt at his mini-game is shown.

It makes sense for the minor moment between Thanos and Nam-gyu, as the moment where he fails is kind of similar to what happened to Gi-hun’s team. While Thanos and his team’s survival was an important moment to show during the series, the deeper and more emotional beat where a player drops the spinning top comes in the final team’s efforts, when Gi-hun and his false friend, theFront Man masquerade as player 001, drop the top. This happens multiple times, and in reality, to build the tension, itmakes the most sense to have the final team’s attempt shown in greater detailover Thanos' minor moment.

Squid Game Season 2’s Team Thanos Was Oddly Entertaining

Thanos and Nam-gyu were not the only two people in their alliance either. After this trial, the team seems content, though it’s clear that there is no great love shared between these players. Instead, the group is full of misfits who are suspicious and wary of one another. However,Squid Gameseason 3will not struggle with the same issues now that so many of the team are dead. Interestingly,Thanos and his friends did well in games like the Pentathlon, but they were not nearly as in-sync when it came to games like Mingle.

What Happened To Gi-Hun After Squid Game Season 2’s Abrupt Ending

Netflix’s Squid Game season 2 ends with an abrupt cliffhanger, but a first-look photo of season 3 confirms Gi-hun’s fate after his failed plan.

Thanos' friends could usually find pairings, and ensure they did not get eliminated, but when the disembodied voice announced people needed to get in teams of three, Thanos and Nam-gyu grabbed player 333 and ran for a door. The dynamics between these characters, their conflicts and their wins are made all the more intriguing by Thanos' character. And despite the team having many differences, the now-deletedSquid Gameclip could have added a little more humanity and balance to Thanos, but the character makes an impression, even without the Pentathlon scene.
