What Washington’s Dream 2’s Popularity Means For SNL

Will The Sketch Return A Third Time?

As of writing, there’s been word fromSNLregarding whether Bargatze will return for Washington’s Dream 3 next year. Considering how the show has operated thus far, any kind of official confirmation isn’t likely to arrive, with sketch sequels usually coming as a surprise during the show. There’s reason to believe that Washington’s Dream will eventually return, however, especially after the outpouring of love on social media.

There have been a number ofSNLsketchesthat returned multiple times due to their popularity.Wayne’s World, for example, started off as a recurringSNLsketch before becoming a feature-length movie. In addition to recurring sketches, manySNLcast members have returned as the same character for numerous appearances, such asBill Hader’s Stefonand Kristen Wiig’s Target Lady.

Stefon was a regular character onSNLfrom 2008 to 2013, with his last appearance coming in 2018. Target Lady appeared 11 times from 2005 to 2015.

Our Take On SNL’s Washington’s Dream Sequel Sketch

Why Bargatze Will Probably Return

SNL, as a show, is arguably a smaller part of the culture today than it was in the early 2000s. When a sketch like Washington’s Dream catches on,it would probably be in the show’s best interest to continue returning to that well, especially since the audience demand for it is there. That being said, the sketch probably shouldn’t return any more than once a year, as it might stop feeling quite as special.

SNL: The 25 Best Seasons Ranked

Saturday Night Live has taken its place amongst some of the greatest TV shows of all time. These seasons are the best that SNL has to offer.

Bargatze has now only beenanSNLhosttwice, but many actors and comedians have hosted far more than that. Figures like Alec Baldwin, Steve Martin, and John Goodman, for example, have all hosted well over 10 times, with Baldwin holding the record at 17. Bargatze, then, could certainly become a frequentSNLhost, and more Washington’s Dream sketches could become something that audiences look forward to every year.
