A new star has joinedScream 7. The upcoming horror movie is the latest installment in the 1990s slasher franchise, which returned to theaters in 2022 with the legacy sequelScream, followed by a New York City-set sequel in 2023. TheupcomingScream 7is set to feature the return of franchise stalwart Neve Campbell as longtime Ghostface survivor Sidney Prescott after she sat out the previous entry amid a pay dispute. The project will be directed by original screenwriter Kevin Williamson, working from a screenplay by Guy Busick, who co-wrote the previous two installments with James Vanderbilt.

The Sequel Is Gathering A Younger Cast
So far,the new movie has assembled an entirely new cast around Neve Campbellafter introducing a quartet of young survivors known as the Core Four in the previous two installments in theScreamfranchise. However, two of those stars are no longer involved, as Melissa Barrera, who played Sam Carpenter, was controversially fired after sharing pro-Palestine social media posts, and Jenna Ortega, who played Sam’s sister Tara, departed the project shortly afterward.
The other Core Four members are the twins Chad and Mindy Meeks-Martin, played by Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown, neither of whom have been confirmed to return inScream 7at the time of writing.
So far, every new member of the cast has been about the same age as the actor playing Sidney’s daughter, whichseems to indicate that the core ensemble of characters in the new movie will be teenagers, just like the ensembles of the original 1996Scream, 2011’sScream 4, and the 2022 legacy sequel. If the new movie follows the same structure as those previous installments, it is likely that Mckenna Grace’s new character will either be revealed to be theGhostface killeror perish at the hands of the newest knife-wielding murderer to wear the mantle.
