Wolcott also forms one of the film’s most unexpectedly sweet relationships, developing a surprisingly close friendship with another member of the G7.

World Leaders Without A World To Lead
Rumours' is largely focused on the leaders who attend the G7 summit in Germany, with the other four members of the group serving as the film’s other primary characters. Denis Ménochet (Inglorious Basterds) appears as Sylvain Broulez, the boisterous President of France. Nikki Amuka-Bird (Avenue 5) plays Cardosa Dewindt, the curt Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Rolando Ravello (Diaz) plays Italian Prime Minister Antonio Lamorte, the sweet natured newest member of the G7. The cast is rounded out by Takehiro Hira (Gran Turismo), who plays Tatsuro Iwasaki, the Prime Minister of Japan.
Most ofRumoursis focused on those seven characters, especially as they find themselves separated from the rest of the summit. However, there are a handful of other characters in the film. The most important of these other characters is Celestine Sproul. Played by Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina), Celestine is the the Secretary-General of the European Commission and a former flame of Maxime’s. There is also Jonas, played by Zlatko Burić (Triangle of Sadness), who works out of the event’s main hall.Rumourskeeps the focus on these characters, preventing them (and the audience) from escaping the absurdist apocalypse that plays out around them.
