One of the more popularHogwarts Legacyitems to find is the disillusionment chest, and one player decided that opening the chest up in-game wasn’t enough, so they made a real-life 3D model of it. The disillusionment chest is best known as an eyeball chest thanks to its roving human-like eye always looking for players trying to get the treasure it’s protecting. So, of course, the real-life version of the disillusionment chest comes complete with a human-like eye too.

Redditormmmmystery, also known as Marko Makaj, posted a video of the 3D model they made on theHogwarts Legacysubreddit showing off the accuracy of the disillusionment chest’s eye. InHogwarts Legacy, the chest challenges the player as theAlohomora Spellwould typically be used to unlock locked items, but this won’t work on the eyeball chest. The eyeball chest clamps up when it spots the player, and no other spell can open it.The real-life version of the disillusionment chest created by Makaj doesn’t react quite like that, but it has one feature that makes it frighteningly realistic.

Fan-Made Disillusionment Chest Comes Equipped With Moving Eye

The Feature Is Making Fans Feel Like They Came Across It In Hogwarts

Hogwarts Legacyfans were stunned to see the eye in Makaj’s chest move just like in the game when a player is in the chest’s proximity, and some wanted to buy it. One fan wasn’t sure if the chest was a real item or a render, to which Makaj, an artist who creates high-quality 3D models and props, confirmed it was real by showing anInstagram videoof the work they put into building it. With aHogwarts Legacysequelofficially in the works, fans were right to wonder why Warner Bros. hasn’t tried to recreate items from the game.

Hogwarts Legacy Player Reminds You Why You Should Never Skip Potions Class

Hogwarts Legacy’s potion feature can provide some enhancements for players to make the game more enjoyable, especially one particular potion.

Many fans were creeped out by seeing the roving eye in real life and wondered if they needed to cast theDisillusionment Charmto turn invisible and avoid its gaze, as they would in the game to collect the Galleons inside.Fans also joked that this disillusionment chest should jump and lock itself if they were spotted or freak out and flail when it’s opened. When asked about adding a proximity sensor to the chest to achieve this, Makaj said,“Haha, already made it in two other projects, still trying to find the room for it in the treasure chest.”

The Magic Of Hogwarts Legacy Doesn’t End In-Game

While video games likeHogwarts Legacyhave a unique power to transport players into the world ofHarry Potter, it’s hard for the virtual world to match something a player can experience for themselves. That’s why collecting wands fromThe Wizarding World of Harry Potterat Universal is such a large attraction.Being able to get a physical item of something as fantastical as a wand, or in this case, the disillusionment chest, makes the world ofHarry Potterfeel more alive when items ‘act’ like they would inHogwarts Legacy.

It’s the immersive qualities that make the items worth collecting and can deepen one’s attachment to the world ofHarry Potter, especially as Warner Bros. is looking to tie inHogwarts Legacywith the TV reboot. Fans are right to embrace Makaj’s cool design, and hopefully, it inspires others to create more items fromHogwarts Legacyfor fans to enjoy.
