Power Rangers’ scrapped plans for season 11, which would then becomePower Rangers Ninja Storm, would have given the show its biggest team of heroes ever. Writer Amit Bhaumik, who worked onPower RangersWild Forceand penned the“Forever Red” crossover, was set to work on the franchise’s adaptation ofNinpu Sentai Hurricaneger. However, once the IP went to Disney, all plans for the next season were put on hold, and the show was reinvented.Power Rangersmoved production to New Zealand, andHurricanagerwas adapted as a relatively standalone series calledNinja Storm.
AlthoughNinja Stormwas a great season,Bhaumik’s original plan forHurricanegerwas exciting and remains one of the biggest “What if…” inPower Rangershistory.The idea was for season 11 to bring backJason David Frank as Tommy Oliver, who would serve as a mentor to a new team of Rangers as part of a larger initiative known as the Hexagon. There were also plans to bring back Austin St. John as Jason, who would most likely lead the Gouraigers. The season would build up to aPower Rangerscivil war centered on the Hexagon.

Multiple Power Rangers Teams Would Operate Under The Hexagon
Power Rangers Hexagonnever moved past the ideation process. However, the idea was that Tommy Oliver would create a public organization known as the Hexagon that would serve as a unified base for allPower Rangersteams. Very much like the Justice League’s Watchtower or the Avengers Compound,the Hexagon would have been a massive base of operations in which Rangers all over the world would be able to join forces.Inspired by Zordon and the original Command Center, Tommy would be the mastermind behind it all, assigning Rangers missions and overseeing their actions.
Power Rangers' 11th season,Ninja Storm, premiered on August 03, 2025. It was a more straightforward adaptation ofNinpu Sentai Hurricanegerand had no crossover episodes.
Presumably, the three Hurricanegers – Red, Blue, and Yellow – would be the main heroes of the Hexagon and would be mentored by Tommy. The location of the Hexagon would be known to the public, and there would be a significant number of Rangers and employees in it at any given moment. WhileTommy would have been more of a Zordon figure, he would also be given new Green Ranger powers at some point based onHurricaneger’s Shurikenger. It’s unclear which legacyPower Rangerscharacters would’ve been part of this story.
The original Red Ranger would have played the role of an outsider in the season, with Jason opposing Tommy was a figure who wasn’t all-in about the idea of a unified team of Rangers. Even though it never happened,it is interesting to imagine howPower Rangers Hexagonwould have been able to pull off a story that ambitious.Every scene not featuring aHurricanegercharacter would have to be original American footage and not fromSuper Sentai, which itself would be a major challenge. Additionally, several actors from previous shows would have to return.

The most ambitiousPower Rangerscrossover during the first 10 seasons was “Forever Red,” which featured every single Red Ranger but Rocky de Santos as part of the celebrations of the show’s 10th anniversary. “Forever Red” made thePower Rangersuniverse feel more interconnected than ever, with characters from different generations finally sharing the screen. For example, Tommy Oliver and Andros interacted for the first time in the series, even though they had both been Zordon pupils. Interestingly,Tommy and Andros acted as if they had known each other for a while.

This is because, afterPower Rangers in Space, the show began to rotate its cast and change its motif every season. On the one hand, this allowedPower Rangersto expand the scope of the franchise and to be more creative with how to covereachSuper Sentaiseason.Lost Galaxyhad nothing to do withTime Force, yet they were both fantastic seasons. Aside from the annual crossover episodes,mostPower Rangersseasons could be watched in whatever order and they would still make sense.Compared to the interconnected stories of the Zordon era,Power Rangerscould have used a more consistent universe regardless of how standalone the seasons were designed to be. “Forever Red” fixed that mistake and made us believe that all those characters actually existed in the same universe.Power Rangers Hexagonwould have done something similar on a much bigger scale, with multiple previous teams operating under Tommy’s influence.

The Comics Could Revisit Some Of The Scrapped Hexagon Ideas
Although Amit Bhaumik has since shared what his plans for the 11th season were, the writer made sure to point out thatPower Rangers Hexagonwould never happen. The show has undergone some major changes since then, and whilePower Rangerscrossoverscontinued to happen, nothing in the scale of Hexagon was ever attempted. That said, the lateJason David Frank did return as Tommy forPower Rangers Dino Thunder, during which he mentored a new team of Rangersand also suited up as the Black Ranger.

The comics have become known for filling the gaps between episodes and seasons as well as expanding on ideas that the show only hinted at, which is whyI would love to see their take on whatPower Rangers Hexagoncould have been like.
InShattered Grid, Power Rangers from different points in the timeline and different universes joined forces against Lord Drakkon.
The comics are entering a new phase withPower Rangers Prime, which is apparently still set during theMighty Morphinera. If so, it may still take a while before BOOM! Studios’Power Rangersuniverse catches up with the events of Forever Red. Even if stories based on the scrapped Hexagon ideas never happen, I hope the comics continue to combine characters and locations from different eras of the franchise in a way that the show rarely did outside of the crossover episodes.
