A newPokémonrumor suggests that a “surprise” main series game will be released in 2025. Next year, Game Freak and The Pokémon Company will releasePokémon Legends ZA, a newPokémongame set in the Kalos region. Other than the initial trailer released in February 2024, The Pokémon Companyhas not announcedany information about the game, although that hasn’t stopped plenty of allegedleaks and rumorsfrom spreading. While we know that onePokémongame is confirmed for 2025, a new rumor suggests that anotherPokémongame will be coming out soon.
Riddler Khu, a Pokémon leaker who has correctly referenced past unreleased Pokémon games and information, made a post on X on December 31stsuggesting that another Pokémon project will be released in 2025.The X post stated that the new Pokémon game was not included in the infamous “Teraleak” that occurred earlier this year and will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2. The tweet also included a picture of a dolphin with black and white coloration, which is likely a reference toPokémon Black & Whiteremakes.Centro Leaksalso summarized Riddler Khu’s posts and posted them to X as well.

Is An Unannounced Pokémon Game Coming In 2025?
There Is Some Evidence That A Pokémon Black & White Remake Is In Development
There is some circumstantial evidence that anotherPokémongame could be released in 2025.Pokémon has slowlyteased a returnto the Unova region, both with the reintroduction of characters from the Unova region and also by excluding several Gen 5 Pokémon from recent games. There are also several rumors suggesting thatmore Unova referenceswill pop up in otherPokémongames and media in the coming months. Finally,Pokémon Legends: Arceus, the previousPokémongame, was released just two months after the release of thePokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearlremakes, which at least shows that a dual release is possible.
However, it seems very odd that a newPokémongame would somehow have escaped the Teraleak, especially as datafiles related to bothPokémon Legends ZAand a supposed Gen 10 Pokémon game were included. At the very least, that would suggest that Game Freak isn’t involved in the newPokémongame at all. That would further strengthen the idea of a new remake of some kind, as third-party developer ILCA was heavily involved in the development ofPokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.

Pokémon Legends ZA Is Probably Not The Only Pokémon Project Planned For Next Year
2024 was one of the quietest years for thePokémonfranchise in a decade. With no new game releases outside ofPokémon TCG Pocketand no news aboutPokémon Legends ZA, it feels like The Pokémon Company is cooking up something big for next year.
Whether that’s a secondPokémongame release or something else entirely is unclear, but fans should probably expect the franchise to do something big in 2025 and then top it in 2026 whenPokémoncelebrates its 30th anniversary. In the meantime, we can’t wait forPokémon Legends ZAand the return of Mega Evolution in 2025, and hope even more surprises are coming.
