Warning: Major spoilers for Paris Has Fallen below! It’s easy to miss on first viewing, butParis Has Fallendrops a big hint about where the next season could take place - and it’s not France.Paris Has Fallen’sendingsees protagonists Vincent (Tewfik Jallab) and Zara (Ritu Arya) taking down villain Pearce (Sean Harris) and saving the day. Still, the finale is a dark one, anddespite Pearce getting the corrupt French President (Emmanuelle Bercot) to confess her part in the death of his family, some political spin frees her of the consequences. The finale also sees Pearce’s financiers, DCX Capital, setting up their next job.

Pearce needed money to finance his revenge campaign, with his backers DCX then making money from the chaos he creates. They also gave Pearce a mercenary named Freja (Ana Ularu) for his mission - both as a henchwomanandinsurance against Pearce going rogue. Freja makes it clear to Pearce that the job is only about the money to her - though she later defies orders to kill him during the finale, suggesting she believes in his cause.Freja is also seen calling DCX Capital head honcho Richard (John Hopkins) and receiving a job offerfrom the mysterious businessman.

Night Has Fallen: Cast, Story & Everything We Know About Olympus Has Fallen 4

Night Has Fallen marks the fourth movie in the Has Fallen series, so when will it release and what will the story be? Here’s what to expect next.

Paris Has Fallen’s Second Season Could Move The Story To Africa

DCX Capital is heading to the “Central African Republic”

WhileParis Has Fallenseason 2 has yet to be announced, the show at least leaves the door open for another series. It seems Freja might become the connective tissue between seasons too, with Richard stating that DCX has another opportunity for her in the “Central African Republic,” if she’s interested. This is a fleeting mention that can get overlooked in all the finale’s drama, but it’s definitely setting up that DCX Capital has other evil schemes in mind.

AssumingParis Has Fallenreturns for another year, it would be a smart move to take the action elsewhere. Paris served as a great backdrop for season one, but to keep the show fresh, a change of scenery would be useful. After all, theHas Fallenmovie trilogyalways changed up the premise - as opposed to seeing the White House get taken over by terrorists again. Maybe Freja could become one of the show’s protagonists too, as the finale suggested the mercenary is not nearly as heartless as she presents.

DCX Capital Could Become The Overarching Villains Of The Has Fallen Series

DCX were the behind the scenes threat of Paris Has Fallen

Vincent and Zara are aware Pearce is being bankrolled by DCX Capital - but they’re too busy chasing the vengeful soldier to go after the company.Paris Has Fallen’sAfrica reference suggests DCX could well become the recurring antagonists of the TV series, where they finance terrorist actions in different countries and hoover up money in the resulting market fluctuations. The second season could find Zara (or a brand new protagonist) following up on their links to Pearce or chasing after Freja, taking her to Africa as DCX’s latest plan unfolds.

It’s almost a shame that Harris' Pearce is dead by the end ofParis Has Fallen’sdebut season, since he’s easily the most complex villain the franchise has had. The show will struggle to find an antagonist who is nearly as menacing or sympathetic, though it might opt for a less subtle villain next time out.It would be strange if a second season is greenlit and then decided to ignore the DCX/Africa setup, but with the spinoff being a streaming success in countries like the UK, the odds of season two are looking good.

Will Paris Has Fallen’s Protagonists Return?

Vincent and Zara make some big decisions in Paris Has Fallen’s finale

They might have saved both the Presidentandthe city inParis Has Fallen’sfinale, but this comes at a personal cost for Zara and Vincent. The latter is almost killed taking a bullet for the President, who is also his secret lover. When she weasels out of responsibility for her actions, the heartbroken Vincent breaks up with the President and retires from his Protection Service officer role. Zara’s girlfriend Thea (Camille Rutherford) also breaks up with her, having been previously shot in the arm by Zara during a hostage standoff.

Vincent seems unlikely to return for Paris Has Fallen’s next series, though Zara remains with MI6 and is too in love with the job to quit.

In short, new best pals Vincent and Zara are in different places in their lives. Vincent seems unlikely to return forParis Has Fallen’snext series, though Zara remains with MI6 and is too in love with the job to quit. Assuming season two isn’t a soft reboot,it’s easy to see Zara returning and being partnered with a new character. It might ultimately depend on how the spinoff fares on Hulu before a decision is made on a potential second series.
