Original Flappy Bird Developer Denies Selling IP
The creator ofFlappy Bird,Dong Nguyen, has clarified via X (formerly Twitter), that they are not involved in the re-release ofFlappy Birdin any way. Further, Nguyen clarifies that they did not, in fact, sell the IP, as it was seemingly acquired through a claim of it being inactive.Screen Rant’s original reporting, which incorrectly states Nguyen sold the IP, continues below.
Per X (formerly Twitter),The Flappy Bird Foundation Group,a team of diehard fans, has managed to successfully purchase the trademark from original creator Dong Nguyen, who delisted the game just months after its release in 2014.

The new version ofFlappy Birdis slated to launch as a web browser game before the end of Octoberwhile the mobile port is planned to arrive in 2025. The revamped game will feature the same tricky platforming as well as a handful of additional features to bring it more in line with recent mobile games.

A variety of new locations that swap out the standard green pipes for new aesthetics will also be available through a world map.
Flappy Birdmay not have been the most mechanically complex game but it proved just challenging enough to take the mainstream market by storm. While the core formula looks largely unchanged, it’s clear that some aspects are being expanded upon.
