It seemed almost unimaginable that aWarhammer 40,000game as comprehensive asSpace Marine 2would come along, and yet it’s finally here, with players culling hordes of Tyranids as the indomitable Titus and battling it out against the Chaos in PvP.Space Marine 2manages to cram as much lore and story as it can into its relatively short campaign, but there’s still plenty that’s missing. This has led fans to wonder whether a DLC could be on the way and what it should include.

Naturally, there are plenty of things that DLC could flesh out, including expanding onSpace Marine 2’stwist ending, butby far one missing feature definitely needs to be included. Surprisingly, this is a feature that appeared in the first game, but is completely absent in the sequel. The fact that it was excluded is a bit of a disappointment, but hopefully that could be fixed in a future update.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Is Missing The Orks

Orks Don’t Make A Return From The First Game

One of the biggest, and perhaps most surprising, exclusions inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2are the Orks. They were one of the primary antagonists of the first game, with Titus, then a Firstborn Space Marine, taking on the Warboss Grimskull and his WAAAGH!. While they don’t dominate the first game, as the Chaos eventually show up to cause havoc, they are a formidable force for Titus to contend with.

WAAAGH! is the name the Orks use to refer to their military campaigns throughout the galaxy.

It was shocking then to see that they don’t appear inSpace Marine 2at all, although there are some obvious reasons for that. Firstly, Saber Interactive clearly wanted to make the most of its Swarm Engine, and the best way of illustrating it would be with the Tyranids. Additionally, switching up the bad guys, especially with Chaos making a return, was definitely the right move to ensure that the two titles didn’t feel identical.

10 Hidden Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Mechanics & Features That Will Improve Your Experience

There are a lot of hidden mechanics in Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 not everyone will know, but are vital for success in and out of battle.

However, it goes without saying thatincluding Orks would go a long way to making it the definitive40Kexperienceand easily one of thebestWarhammergames ever made, not that it isn’t already deserving of being on that list. It’s one of the most popular factions in the40Kuniverse and is a pretty iconic foe for the Space Marines to face. Bringing them back, especially using the Swarm Engine, would be incredible.

Orks Could Be Added To Space Marine 2 In An Update

They Could Return In Potential DLC

It is certainly possible that Orks could feature in a future update forSpace Marine 2. While there are already lots ofmissions inWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2,adding more Operations missions that feature Orks would be a novel way of introducing them to the game without needing to develop an entire DLC campaign. This would also mix up players' experiences with the Operations missions, as fighting Tyranids or Chaos repeatedly could grow stale.

Unfortunately, thefullSpace Marine 2roadmapdoesn’t include new factions or races, which would indicate that Orks aren’t on their way. Of course, it’s more than possible that developer Saber Interactive is saving the Ork reveal for a later date. The roadmap does mention new Operations missions, sothere’s plenty of room for those to include a new Ork WAAAGH! for the Ultramarines to face.

The roadmap doesn’t mention exactly how many Operations missions will be added toSpace Marine 2over the next year. However, there will be new PvE missions added in Season 2 and Season 3.

Alternatively,Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2could get a full-blown story DLC that introduces Orks into the game. The ending certainly sets up the possibility of Titus heading out for more battles, and there’s no reason why he can’t encounter Orks along the way. Considering they’re a fan favorite, Saber Interactive would be appeasing fans by adding them to the game.

Titus wearing the Deathwatch Armor in Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2

Orks Were The Best Part Of The Original Game

Space Marine 2 Definitely Needs Orks To Chop Up

Killing Orks as Titus was by far one of the best aspects of the originalSpace Marine, especially thanks to the diversity of Orks to slash with his chainsword. From Nobs and Shoota Boys to Storm Boys, there was plenty of variation to contend with, forcing players to rethink their approach to each mission.Orks are also just generally pretty phenomenal in theWarhammer 40,000lore, thanks largely to their blend of vicious determination to conquer everything and the fact that they’re always portrayed humorously.

Orks are actually one of the more intelligent species in the40Kuniverse, and aside from the Tyranid swarms that devour entire systems, they are the largest faction. They spread across the galaxy, destroying everything in their path, outnumbering all of their foes with their giant WAAAGH!s. They’re a terrifying force of nature, one fueled by a thirst for battle and war that is only stopped from truly conquering everything by the infighting between Ork tribes.

Players may be wondering if theyneed to play the firstSpace Marinebefore the sequelfor narrative reasons, but really, they should be playing it just to experience the Ork hordes. Grimskull is a truly terrific villain inWarhammer 40,000:Space Marine, and fending off giant groups of Orks never gets old.Having Orks reappear inSpace Marine 2would be a hugely impressive achievementand one many fans would like to see.

Space Marine 2 Needs A New Main Villain

Orks Make For More Interesting Villains Than The Tyranids

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2has very compelling villains, and the Tyranids are clearly just a roadblock to getting to them. For the most part, the Tyranids are a force of nature, unstoppable and unthinking, tearing their way through the galaxy. Orks are very similar, but they have personalities and a lot more history, which is what makes them a more compelling villain.

Now that the main campaign is over and done with,Space Marine 2needs a new central villain for players to face, if only to spice things up. Whether it’s through DLC or Operations, it would be great forSpace Marine 2to introduce a secondary villain, potentially a new Warboss, for Titus to deal with. It would make for a fun experience that can still be just as grimdark and visceral as the base campaign.

How To Get Deathwatch Armor In Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2

To get the coveted Deathwatch armor set in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, you’ll first need enough Armory Data to collect all four pieces.

Potentially, this is all being saved for a third entry in the series, with Orks returning as the primary villain. That would be great, although if the wait betweenSpace Marine 2and3is the same as1and2, fans won’t be seeing Orks for a long while. Nevertheless, seeing Orks again in theWarhammer 40,000: Space Marineseries would be a dream come true and a great way to challenge Titus once more.
