They always stand out, and they always lead to eager speculation.
The latestSkeleton Crewteaser features a mysterious masked man, leading to immediate speculation in the fandom. It’s important to note that none ofSkeleton Crew’s pirates feel particularly like leaders right now, so this may well be the man in charge. But does that mask conceal a secret identity, or is it just another helmet design added simply for the “Rule of Cool”?

Fans would be wise not to make too big a deal of this helmeted figure.Ahsoka, after all, featured a mysterious masked Inquisitor named Marrok, who became the subject of intense speculation over the weeks ahead of the show’s release. In the end, Marrok… was simply a deceased Inquisitor who’d been resurrected byNightsister magick, and who was easily killed by Ahsoka in battle, his body dissipating in green mist.Months of speculation turned out to be fruitless, because he didn’t mean anything at all.
That does not, of course, mean the same is true for the helmeted figure inStar Wars: Skeleton Crew. Unlike Marrok, this particular “masked man” has been held back, and this is the first look we’ve had of him - just two weeks before the show’s premiere on December 3. Perhaps he’s actually a member of theImperial Shadow Council?The Mandalorianseason 3 hinted some pirates were in league with the resurgent Empire, which would tie this in to the ongoing story rather well.

That alone seems to suggest the masked man reveal is an important one, and that this will be a character of some importance. Ultimately, it’s unlikelyStar Wars: Skeleton Crewwill reveal any more about him until the show’s debut - so we’ll just have to wait and see.
