According to an X post by@MangaAlerts, The Northern District of California court has taken legal action against Discord because of an anime leaker who is known by the alter ego, Jace Johnson, or @jacejohns4n on Discord. This user most recently leaked an image on Discord related to theSquid Gamesseries, but this was certainly not their first offense.Episodes ofDAN DA DANandRanma 1/2,two very popular shonen series were also leakedby this user, as well as the entire film,Gekijōban Mononoke: Karakasa. All of these series were set to air on Netflix, the streaming company who filed the request for the subpoena.

In an interview with someone who uses the usernameYNGKKR, Jace Johnson fessed up to their crimes and took ownership over the leaks of various series, proudly admitting to leaking a number of series on 4chan. In the interview, Jace explained that they were able toobtain content thanks to a friend who works at a dubbing studio named Iyuno. Jace Johnson clearly had no plans to stop their behavior, stating that they were “currently planning [their] next big leak.” Although Jace’s true identity has not been discovered yet, the subpoena could help authorities finally track them down.

Both subpoenasurge Discord to release information that could help authorities track down thesource of these leaksand put a stop to this misbehavior, since Jace Johnson has used the platform to carry out their crimes on multiple occasions. In the midst of this information, Netflix has released an official company statement on the controversy, explaining their commitment to stopping the leaks.
In an interview with IGN, Netflix stated,“One of our post-production partners has been compromised and footage from several of our titles has unfortunately leaked online. Our team is aggressively taking action to have it taken down.“Netflix is dedicated to tracking down the source of this illegal behavior and putting a stop to it, since Jace Johnson’s actions have threatened the release schedules of Netflix’s most successful titles.
