2K has announced an entire list of redesigns coming to The City inNBA 2K25. First added to the series inNBA 2K21, The City, as its name would suggest, provides players with a whole new interactive city full of opportunities to explore, compete and build their legacy.

As shared in a new dev diary on theNBA 2KYouTube channel that accompanied a new trailer for the mode, 2K’s VP of NBA Development, Erick Boenisch, stated that the new version of The City “has been redesigned with community feedback at the forefront,” withan entirely new interactive city that has been designed to feel more “intimate” and connected, getting players to their experiences even quicker. The intent of the new redesign is to provide a greater focus on basketball and “a quicker entry into the experience allowing players to seamlessly connect and compete.”

Boenisch also revealed the main street, a competitive hub called the Boulevard of Stars which is covered in murals of various players, with a Walk of Fame that resembles Hollywood Boulevard and features a basketball tile foreach NBA Finals winner.From here, players can easily access all of the game modes and experiences such as refreshed Pro-AM, The REC and Ante-Up.

As players win championships of their own inNBA 2K25’s MyCAREER mode, their dynasties will also be memorialized alongside NBA history on the Walk of Fame.

MyCOURT & Streetball Return Alongside Nostagic MyPARKs

As stated in the Courtside Report on theNBA 2Ksite,The City is celebrating a decade sinceNBA 2K15in a couple of ways by bringing back modes first introduced in that title. The City features remastered versions of all four MyPARKs fromNBA 2K15as events in the Event Center, while also responding to the community’s call to bring back the MyCOURT mode that first appeared in the title, with the customizable apartment and basketball court combo at the center of The City serving as a player’s private hub to practice and experiment solo or with friends and MyCAREER teammates, while also featuring in MyCAREER itself.

The new Proving Grounds is also the new home for ranked playacross intense 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5 games in The City, with comp-level difficulty sliders and Shot Meters turned off for everyone, with the Top 5 players each Season earning exclusive rewards. Players can also play 3v3 matches with up to two other friends against a new set of bosses with the return of Co-Op Streetball, and the ELITE vs. RISE rivalry continues intoNBA 2K25’s The City with brand new parks for each affiliation, such as old forts, or a sci-fi robot factory.

While there’s plenty for establishedNBA 2Kplayers to enjoy from past titles,several new features have also been added to make The City more welcoming to beginners, with new HoloHelp Info kiosks dotted around to explain how each mode works and what the target skill level is for the experience. Meanwhile, the aforementioned ELITE & RISE parks also have new novice-friendly Casual Courts with easier difficulty, so players can learn how to play alongside other beginners.

NBA 2K25is due to release worldwide on September 6 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC platforms, and for the first time, The City will be available on PC, and those with compatible hardware will experience the mode with enhanced lighting and reflections through ray tracing technology. Those who pre-order on all platforms except Nintendo Switch get early access from September 4.
