While there was aDark Towermovie released in 2017, it was poorly received by critics and general audiences, leading to Flanagan working on developing a more faithful rendition of King’s beloved book series.Flanagan is also developing an eight-episode miniseries adaptation of King’s first published novel,Carrie, for Amazon. While there have been multiple movie adaptations ofCarrie, this will be the first time it has been adapted as a television series.

Oh, man. Well, I can say when Mike called me and asked if I would be a part of of the ensemble, I just immediately said, “Yes.” I was like, “Of course, of course.” The film means a lot to him, it’s near and dear to his heart. And, as a friend, I knew that, so when he called and asked if I’d be a part of it, it was really humbling, because it’s not just a movie. It’s a piece of art, you know, he painted it. With his camera, he and Eben Bolter, they created, to me, one of my favorite films. I’m lucky enough to have gotten to see it. And, obviously, it had the TIFF experience that it did and was the People’s Choice winner. So, I’m so glad that other people are connecting to the movie, because it meant that much, and more, to Mike and to all of us that they got to be a part of it. It’s bigger than us.
