Marvel Rivalshas already experienced massive success since Season 0, but Season 1 could raise the bar further. The Marvel-themed hero shooter has surpassed many expectations, combining excellent features, like free heroes, with its fun and chaotic gameplay. It hasn’t been without some issues, like the argument aboutwhetherMarvel Rivalsshould have role lock, but this has not hampered the game much, if at all.

ThoughMarvel RivalsSeason 1 will be the first look at how the developers plan to update the live service game, players already have a sense of how it will work due to leaks. Each seasonplans to add multiple new heroes, maps, and cosmetics. There is also the chance that new events or modes will appear, but these are unlikely to be as frequent as the aforementioned additions. Regardless, updates like Season 1, if sustainable, will be a massive upgrade overMarvelRivals’competition.

When Is Marvel Rivals Season 1?

Jumping Into A New Year Of Action

Season 1 of Marvel Rivals isset to begin on July 13, 2025. There will also be a trailer coming on August 01, 2025, that will show up the new roster of characters being added to the game. The roster includes the entirety of the Fantastic Four, featuring Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grim. The other piece of information known is thatthere will be a new map added to the game as well. While not many details are known, the location is seen in a promotional image that has led to some speculation.

The speculation on the location leads players to believe that it is a vampire-infected version of New York, with many hoping this will foreshadow the appearance of Blade in the game. There is also aMarvel Rivalscrossover event that has already started as of July 27, 2025, which connects this title to games in the mobile line-up. This event is expected to last through the beginning of Season 1 when a lot of other content is expected to pop up as well.

Numerous Options To Choose From

10 More Villains That Should Come To Marvel Rivals

Marvel Rivals is missing out on a horde of villains that could join the roster while introducing new elements to the chaotic multiversal battlefield.

However, based on information from the most credible leakers, such asRivalsLeaks, it would seemthe most likely additions for Season 1 are Ultron and Blade. Now that it is known the full roster of the Fantastic Four is coming, these two are the most likely candidates for other characters getting added in. While Ultron hasn’t been shown off in the same way as the other two, he has gotten the most backing from leakers that he is arriving next, and Blade fits the aesthetic of the new map.

Ultron is likely to be a Strategist, but that is still up for debate. The rest of the leaked characters have had way less evidence shown, which makes them unlikely to arrive in Season 1. The only evidence for Captain Marvel, Deadpool, and many others has been small lines in code, which don’t give any concrete date for their release.

New Season 1 Content Expected

Maps, Modes, And More

What new content to expect outside of heroes inMarvel RivalsSeason 1 is a lot more unpredictable. One new map set in New York has been confirmed, but more might be coming since three locations have been rumored, and the currentmap pool inMarvel Rivalsgrows stale quickly. However, there is no indication of which modes the New York map, or any other maps added such as Arrako or Krakoa, could come with.

Another bit of new content that can be expected from Season 1 is the aforementioned Lunar New Year event. Unfortunately, there is currently no information on what this will bring, except for some concept models of the new costumes. These includenew additions for Mantis, Dr Strange, Moon Knight, and Squirrel Girl. If this event follows the same idea as the Winter one, one of these costume bundles, or perhaps one that is still unknown, could be free to earn.

The last thing that can be expected from a new season is newMarvel Rivalshero team-ups. These have yet to be fully confirmed but are likely given the evidence. The first is that The Thing will likely be added to the synergy between Hulk and Wolverine, allowing him toalso throw the ferocious Duelist. Human Torch has been said to have a team-up with Storm, where she cancollect some of his energy to add Fire to her Hurricane Ultimate, or Human Torch can set it aflame himself. No leaks have provided details on Ultron’s potential team-ups.

Overall, Season 1 is gearing up to be a huge update for the hero shooter. The studio will likely aim to keep the impressive player retention they have managed going. New heroes have the best chance of bringing the most success, which is why it seems that many will be added. Three seems the most likely possibility, with any more being a massive boon. However, until more is known, this is what to expect from Season 1 ofMarvel Rivals.
