There’s a newPrismatic EvolutionsPokémon Trading Card Gameproduct out on shelves, but they’re selling out at an extreme rate. Earlier this year, thePokémon Trading Card GamereleasedPrismatic Evolutions, a new special set focused on Eevee and its evolutions. Since its release, finding cards has been difficult due to high demand and a staggered release schedule. The latestPrismatic EvolutionsBundle has triggered a new wave of demand forPokémoncards, hearkening back to the days of the COVID-19 pandemic when cards were almost always unavailable at retailers.
This week, thePokémon TCGreleased a new booster bundle ofPrismatic Evolutionscards. This booster bundle contains six packs and is intended to be an easy way to purchase multiple booster packs without worrying about other promo material that usually comes in boxed sets. However, booster bundles are in high demand and are selling out at almost all retailers extremely quickly.VGCreports that the British retailer Smith’s Toys had multi-hour lines, with customers limited to buying just one bundle per set. The Pokémon Center online store also quickly sold out of their allotted supply.

Why Prismatic Evolutions Is In Such High Demand
New Set Contains Multiple Cards Selling For Hundreds Of Dollars
The newPrismatic Evolutionsset isa special set, which means thePokémon TCGisn’t releasing individual booster packs for sale. Instead, various boxed products are available, including Elite Trainer Boxes, special promo boxes, and the aforementioned booster bundles. This means that individualPrismatic Evolutionsproducts tend to cost more, which means that retailers are likely to carry less. The Special Sets always tend to be in high demand,as evidenced by the continued strong sales ofScarlet & Violet - 151productsover a year after their release.
Pokémon TCG Confirms Scarlet & Violet Is Officially Ending In 2025
A new era is coming to the Pokemon Trading Card Game, with Scarlet & Violet ending and Mega Evolution launching later this year.
The main draw for thePrismatic Evolutionsset is the Special Illustration Rare versions of the various Eevee evolutions. For instance, the Umbreon ex SIR card is selling for over $1,100on TCGPlayerand other secondary sites, and other Eevee evolution cards are selling for hundreds of dollars. There is a very slim chance that players can collect all the Eevee-related Special Illustration Rare cards via a “God Pack,” which has pushed demand for booster packs even higher.

Our Take: Special Sets Need To Stop Until A Solution Is Found
The Overwhelming Demand For Prismatic Evolutions Is Ridiculous And Over-The-Top
Prismatic Evolutionsis a highly sought-after set, but the instant sellouts and outrageous secondary prices only hurt fans. The Pokémon Company needs to take steps to fix its supply issues or, at the very least, make sure that it’s releasing stock in a responsible fashion. I’m disappointed that there’s no way for normal fans to pick up aPrismatic Evolutionsbooster bundle, and I hope that thePokémon Trading Card Gamemakers are planning on releasing more stock until everyone gets a chance to buy the cards they want.
