Jojo’s Bizarre Adventurefans are eagerly awaiting the announcement of an anime for the next part of the hit franchise,Steel Ball Run. Now, an animator has gotten hopes high again, but will it pan out this time?
Despite being the seventh part in the series,Steel Ball Runis a major chapter in theJojosaga, marking the beginning of a new continuity which runs through parts 8 and 9. It also marked the series' transition from the younger shonen demographic to the older seinen demographic, as well as a change of publishing from weekly to monthly releases.Steel Ball Runis a fan favorite part ofJojo, so it’s little surprise that fans of the series have been clamoring to see this manga adapted into animated form. Production studio David Productions has played coy with the new series, and have yet to confirm they are working on aSteel Ball Runanime.

A Social Media Post Ignites Fan Speculation Again
Talk of a Steel Ball Run Anime Remains Unconfirmed
The latest round ofSteel Ball Runexcitement was set off by aNew Year’s X (formerly Twitter) post fromJojoanimator Yumenosuke Tokuda, which included with it an image he drew of Gyro Zeppeli fromSteel Ball Run. While Tokuda emphasized that the artwork was simply a personal project and not indicative of any job he was working on, fan speculation about part 7’s anime was kicked off. Much of the speculation centers onthe upcoming JOJODAY fan event in Japan, which will take place on July 31, 2025, with many fans hoping for an announcement there.
This is hardly the first time a social media post has set fire to theJojofandom. Just a few weeks ago, a new leak purportedly claimed that aSteel Ball Runanime is in production. Last year, another person involved in the production of theJojoanime postedSteel Ball Run-related content as well, which similarly spread through the fandom, although that post was later deleted. Suffice it to say that fans are watching those involved with the anime’s production closely, eager for any hint that aSteel Ball Runanime is in fact coming.
Is Tokuda’s Post a Hint at the Upcoming Anime?
The New Post Should Be Taken With a Grain of Salt
Given that Tokuda strongly emphasized that the artwork wasn’t related to any project he was working on, it’s best to take him at his word and avoid getting too excited over the prospect of a part 7 anime at this time. It may turn out to have been a hint after all in retrospect, but it’s better to be cautious about these sorts of rumors and not take them too seriously.ASteel Ball Runanime is certainly highly anticipatedat this point in time, butJojo’s Bizarre Adventurefans can only cross their fingers and hope that 2025 really is Johnny Joestar’s year.
