That’s right, the mightyThundercatsare going to be getting a helping hand from thePowerpuff Girlsin a crossover special next year. Dynamite Comics has reinvigorated both franchises with their new comic series and on Free Comic Book Day, the two worlds are set to collide in an unbelievable one-shot story.
PerAIPT Comics, Dynamite Comics has revealed the crossover thatwill bring itsThundercatsandPowerpuff Girlsseries together.Thundercats/Powerpuff Girls #0will be written by Paulina Ganucheau and drawn and colored by Coleman Engle, with letters by Jeff Eckleberry. Engle’s cover shows Blossom and Lion-O leading their allies while a perplexed Mumm-Ra watches in the background.
According to the solicited information,the Powerpuff Girls aretransported to Third Earth, where they lose their powers. The young heroes are forced toteam up with the Thundercats and stop whatever evil plan Mumm-Ra is fomenting and somehow get back home.

Dynamite Comics is Making the Most of Its New Cartoon-Based Series
Neither the Thundercats nor the Powerpuff Girls are strangers to the comic book world. Marvel Comics produced aThundercatscomic book through its Star Comics imprint for three years in the ’80s and later, DC Comics published a few miniseries and one-shots under its Wildstorm imprint. During the height ofThe Powerpuff Girls’popularity, DC put out a tie-in comic under its own branding, while the property was later licensed to IDW Publishing. However,both the Thundercats and the Powerpuff Girls' licenses were acquired by Dynamite Comics in 2023in an agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery.
It’s no wonder that Dynamite is interested in bringing these two properties together, asThe Powerpuff GirlsandThundercatswere embraced by fans everywhere. Not to mention,Thundercatsbecame one of 2024’s best-selling comics, with the series' first issue selling over 170,000 copies. Is it a bit odd to combine these specific properties? Maybe. But it’s an intriguing idea, especially for fans of one or both properties. Not to mention, if it’s a success,Dynamite Comics could consider bringing some of its other licensed properties in for future crossover storiesdown the line.

Just Imagine Space Ghost Getting in On the Fun
Dynamite’s deal with Warner Bros. Discovery included a lot of other cartoons, likeSpace Ghost,Johnny Quest, andThe Flintstones. If this crossover betweenThundercatsandThe Powerpuff Girlsworks out, who knows what could be next? Perhaps some zany adventures where Space Ghost’s enemies team up with Mumm-Ra or Johnny Quest goes on an adventure in Bedrock. Dynamite has a lot of great properties at its disposal right now, and it’s clearly making the most of them. Hopefully, theThundercats’crossover with thePowerpuff Girlsis just the beginning.
