The Legend of Zeldaseries has a number of iconic pieces of iconography, from Link’s green hat to the Triforce of Courage. However, perhaps none are more legendary than the Master Sword, a powerful blade that Link wields in the name of protecting Zelda, Hyrule, and the innocent people at the mercy of Ganondorf’s wrath. Naturally, considering its status as a legendary weapon in the gaming zeitgeist, many will likely wonder whether it pops up inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
While the Master Sword is typically used by Link,Echoes of Wisdomdeviates from the expected tropesof the series, and instead ushers in a fresh new age of unique mechanics and, of course, Zelda’s own perspective. Naturally, this would lead to many believing that Zelda may finally get a chance to whack Moblins with the Master Sword, even getting her very own spin attack. However, most of the promotional material has shown her with a very handy staff capable of shooting out snakes, making it unclear whether the Master Sword appears at all.

The Master Sword Does Not Appear In Echoes Of Wisdom
Link Uses A Different Sword Entirely
Link does not wield the Master Sword inEchoes of Wisdomat any point in the game, despite it being such an iconic weapon and having appeared in numerous games in the franchise. Instead, Link uses the Sword of Might, which has his name carved onto it and was crafted by Lueburry. Unfortunately, Zelda doesn’t get the Master Sword at a later stage, meaning it simply does not appear at all, although this isn’t surprising consideringEchoes of Wisdom’splace in the series.
The Master Sword, in the way that players know it, was introduced inThe Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and did not appear in the first two entries. However, there was a weapon called the Magical Sword, which was largely the same.

This isn’t particularly uncommon forZeldagames, as Link has, on occasion, just had a regular sword or another named-bladeand not the iconic Master Sword, such as in the very firstThe Legend of Zeldagame.
In fact, there are several games without the Master Sword, including classic titles such asThe Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask,The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, andThe Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Of course, a sword is also typically not Zelda’s choice of weapon, asshe prefers to use the Tri Rod, which is absolutely the case inEchoes of Wisdom.

Zelda Does Get A Sword In Echoes Of Wisdom
She Can Activate Her Swordfighter Form
Zelda does fortunately find a sword inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, although it isn’t the Master Sword. Instead, she locates a “mysterious sword”, which she can then use to transform into her Swordfighter form, that allows her to use it against her foes alongside her Echoes. It’s a handy tool, especially for those who are more used toThe Legend of Zelda’susual form of combat.
All 28 Legend Of Zelda Amiibo Compatible With Echoes Of Wisdom
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is compatible with a wide range of Amiibos, which can be used to unlock special items within the game.
Outside this sword, Zelda can use her staff to summon Echoes, which can take the form of enemies or objects, such as a bed. However, it cannot be used offensively to deal damage to enemies or bosses, so without their Swordfigher form, players will have to think carefully about how to approach each encounter. Fortunately, as thismight not be the last 2DZeldagame, there’s a chance fans will be able to see the Master Sword soon, even though it doesn’t appear inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.
