WWEcould be setting upSami Zayn to betray The Bloodline. As Roman Reigns' OG Bloodline is struggling to find afifth member heading into WarGames, they were grateful that Sami Zayn was willing to bury the hatchet and reunite as their fourth member. However, that hatchet may not be as deep in the ground as Reigns and co. would assume.
Following the latest episode of SmackDown, WWE is starting to place doubts in the minds of audiences that Sami Zayn could truly be Bloodline for life. While in Roman Reigns' personal locker room, the OG Bloodline sees on their TV Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline 2.0 making their way to the ring. With everyone else’s eyes fixated on the screen,Sami Zayn pulls a phone out of his pocket and tosses it onto the couch.

Either this is an inconsequential moment that means nothing, or it’s a subtle story element serving as astronomical foreshadowing. Considering the segment that closed the show, with Roman Reigns trying to call his Wiseman Paul Heyman only to learn that his phone was disconnected, Sami’s weird gesture could take on a number of meanings. Either way, it’s important to analyze both sides of the angle.
Why Would Sami Zayn Turn on The Bloodline?
It’s important to remember that although Sami Zayn, The Usos, and Roman Reigns are all on the same page leading to their WarGames match, they’re still not exactly friends. Keep in mind thatSami Zayn’s initial role in The Bloodlineended with him slicing a steel chair across Reigns' back in defense of his best friend, Kevin Owens. The rest of the Bloodline were quick to turn their back on Zayn, dog piling on him to defend the Head of the Table. Zayn would eventually mend fences with Jey Uso on Raw, but not the rest of the Anoa’i family.
While Sami Zayn and Jey Uso distanced themselves, Solo Sikoa rebuilt the Bloodline in his image. Outnumbered, especially heading into a five-on-five situation at WarGames, Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso were forced to rekindle their relationships with Jey Uso and Sami Zayn. Jey was reluctant at first, but subsequently relented. Zayn, meanwhile, fought harder against the notion of reuniting but promised to support his friend, Jey, no matter what. Granted, suspiciously enough,The Usos do find him having a parking lot conversation with Bloodline 2.0’s leader.

Still, even after former Bloodline ally Solo tries to recruit Sami, Zayn’s friendship prevails when he comes to the aid of his friend Jey - not Jimmy or Roman - during their match with Bloodline 2.0 at Crown Jewel. In trying to help,Sami Zayn accidentally hits Roman Reigns instead of Solo Sikoa, though the “accident” aspect has been viewed as questionable. Zayn ultimately decides to begrudgingly join the Bloodline - more so to help Jey and stop a common rival - but he’s never truly had closure with Roman or Jimmy.
Jimmy outright told Sami Zayn that he wasn’t family. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns not only shared the sentiment but refused to apologize to Sami Zayn for everything he put him through, refusing to do the bare minimum to save their relationship. Sami agrees to rejoin the Bloodline despite both, but that doesn’t change the fact thatSami Zayn is with the OG Bloodline out of convenience rather than allegiance. They’re not together out of a mutual love for each other but a shared hatred for Solo. Working together out of spite doesn’t work in any relationship, especially when trust is in doubt on all sides.

What’s The Deal with the Phone that Sami Zayn Threw?
Either a Whole Lot of Nothing or a Subtle Element of Foreshadowing
At face value, it may be easy to assume that this phone moment with Sami Zayn isn’t anything significant in character. Out of character, it could just be Rami Sebei remembering he has to work a physical segment in the ring and not wanting to get his phone crushed. Truthfully, this could also be a kayfabe explanation, with Sebei’s Zayn character anticipating action and placing his belongings on the couch before he’s about to fight. This all could be just a nothing moment that’s being overanalyzed, but given the past intricacies ofprofessional wrestling’s longest storyline in WWE, that’s not likely.
This could easily be revealed to be Zayn’s long-term plan to destroy Roman’s Bloodline from the inside and keep its leader out of power for good.

The Bloodline storyline has been known to feature several small moments that are easy to overlook, but emerge weeks - sometimes months - later asa pivotal moment of foreshadowing. This could be one such moment of foreshadowing, potentially leading to a heel turn and betrayal at WarGames. His best friend KO is already a heel, turning due to Cody Rhodes' insistence to help the Bloodline, so Zayn could follow suit similarly. Knowing their ongoing animosities, this could easily be revealed to be Zayn’s long-term plan to destroy Roman’s Bloodline from the inside and keep its leader out of power for good, knowing what Roman’s capable of with that power.
Could Sami Zayn Be Working for The Rock?
WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray’s Theory Explained
As elaborate of a plan as it may be for Sami Zayn to go through such extreme measures to permanently overthrow Roman Reigns, he may not be the master pulling the strings. Instead, this entire ruse could be orchestrated by none other than The Rock.On Busted Open Radio, Dave LaGreca outright says that he doesn’t trust Sami Zayn’s role in this storyline, citing his parking lot conversation with Solo Sikoa, kick to Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel, and this phone scenario as a reason why. He thinks that a Zayn turn at WarGames is inevitable.
Rather than focus on Sami’s allegiances, Bully Ray focuses on not only the phone he threw but how it could connect to Paul Heyman. He reminds Dave that when Tama Tonga debuted and joined Solo’s side, Solo destroyed Paul Heyman’s phone when The Wiseman tried to call Roman Reigns. This could be one way to explain why Roman Reigns' attempted phone call to Paul Heyman never went through, but Bully reminds everyone that Paul’s frequently seen with two phones.Perhaps Sami had Paul’s phone, and tossed it expecting a phone call from a certain Brahma Bull?
Paul Heyman’s 10 Best Wiseman Moments in the Bloodline
He’s been an Advocate and he’s been a Wiseman, but more than anything else lately, Paul Heyman has been essential to WWE’s Bloodline storyline.
Alternatively, this could mean that Sami Zayn may be hiding Paul Heyman’s other phone or purposely disconnecting it from Roman, but Bully adds another interesting wrinkle into his theory:the back of Heyman’s other phone would have The Rock’s logo on it:“Now, I don’t know if I’m looking too deeply into this … how insane would it be if somehow Paul Heyman was linking himself to The Rock?” Heyman does historically betray his clients whenever there’s an opportunity to work with someone bigger.
It’s worth noting that everything regarding Sami Zayn’s involvement with the OG Bloodline didn’t start manifesting until after Bad Blood, where The Rock gave an ominous warning at the ramp. Maybe that’s where this master plan first started being formulated. Whether he’s involved with The Rock or not, Sami Zayn certainly has cause and reason to betray a family that never fully embraced him anyway, and most of which continue to shun him going into the biggest match of the stable’s history. This would be a major twist in theWWEstoryline, but shouldn’t be shocking to anyone that’s seenSami Zaynrepeatedly disrespected by the Bloodline and Roman Reigns.
