As the storm rages,Indy comes face-to-face with Voss in a direct showdown, testing his prowess at fisticuffs against Voss’s exaggerated karate technique.
Voss frequently criticizes Indiana’s attachment to women and Gina’s love for her sister, so the hairpin’s utility is a nice thematic fulfillment that emphasizes the shortsightedness and arrogance of his ideology.
