While there have never been any reports about Jason Statham and Tom Cruise trying to make a movie together, I do have some hope that it will happen afterA Working Man. A key reason for that belief is knowing thatCruise’s schedule is about to become a lot more open.Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoningis expected to be his franchise sendoff. That will give him a lot more freedom to do other projects beyond the franchise. He’s already started to branch out with a dramatic role, but action movies will always be crucial to his career.
In a time when Cruise will need to figure out new action movie ideas that audiences will want to see, co-starring in one with Jason Statham is a terrific option. Sure, he’ll return forTop Gun 3and has other franchise aspirations. I’ll be there to see whatever action movies Tom Cruise does next, no matter what. But if one of these upcoming projects happens to pair him with Jason Statham in some capacity, I’ll be even happier.
