Summary
When Rick Riordan’sPercy Jackson & the Olympiansbooks came out, I considered myself to be a little too old for them, but since I picked one up in a charity shop, I’ve been hooked, and I’m so glad that the TV show is honoring this great fiction. While thePercy Jackson & the Olympiansseason 1 endingsatisfied me,I was wondering whether the show’s second season would manage to maintain the same level of faithfulness to the source material, in terms of its spirit and humor. But I have reason to believe that the show will keep doing Riordan proud.
Percy Jackson & the Olympiansseason 2is set to explore the interlinking stories of its characters, Percy, Grover, and Prometheus. I can’t wait for the show to break into the stories that set the books alight with their devotion to Greek mythology and positivity around Percy’s ADHD and dyslexia. These stories could have taken a dark turn in the acclaimed Disney+ TV show, especially considering the events of season 1. But recent events lead me to think thatseason 2 will be just as funny as season 1.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians season 1 has a lot of great episodes, but some installments of the Disney+ series stand out more than others.
Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson Season 2 Teases Confirm The Show Is Keeping Its Humor
Percy Jackson & The Olympians Season 2 Will Be Hilarious
Percy Jackson & the Olympiansauthor Rick Riordan made some comments at a recent D23 event that make me think thatPercy Jackson & the Olympiansseason 2 won’t shy away from the humor of the books. Thevillain twist at the end ofPercy Jacksonseason 1showed Luke betraying his friends. I wasn’t sure if this would lead season 2 into a darker, more serious place. However, Riordan and the show’s cast teased St. Augustine Bridal Boutique and a “smaller, furry, squeakier Percy,” promising more guinea-pig-related comedy in season 2.
Rick Riordan’s Novels Deserve To Be Adapted Faithfully
During the D23 Entertainment Showcase, Riordan and the show’s team convinced me thatPercy Jackson & the Olympianswill keep up the comedic spirit of the books, which I think is key to its success. The books made a fun time out of conquering mythical quests, proving that low fantasy is an accessible genre for people of all ages and abilities. The books made it fun and easy to enjoy Percy’s storyfor both young children and older adults like me.
Percy Jacksonseason 2 will visit another canonical location, diving into the book’s Sea of Monsters. Adapting the second novel in Riordan’s series, this story will level up the stakes. It would be all too easy for the TV show to fall into the trap of convolution or darkening the story to start to appeal to an older audience. According to Riordan and actors Walker Scobell, Leah Sava Jeffries, and Aryan Simhadri,Grover’s legendary bridal dress fitting is imminent, proving that what was brilliant about St. Augustine Bridal Boutique will come through in the show.

Filming forPercy Jacksonseason 2 began in August 2024.
The talented cast of the Disney+ TV show referring to these classic moments from the books assures me that the cast and crew of the show know what they are doing. The show clearly has a love of the source material, soPercy Jacksonseason 2 bringing scarier monstersis no reason for the show to lose its core ethos or audience.Percy Jackson & the Olympiansbooks are huge for good reason, and I’m really happy that the show will keep up their all-important lighthearted moments in season 2.
