A player ofThe Sims 4has discovered one of the strangest quirks the game has to offer after choosing to garden at the worst possible time. InThe Sims 4, a player’s options will often be affected not only by place, time, personality, and profession, but also by mood. Moods work a lot more simply in more recent games, especially compared to therecently re-releasedSims 1 and 2; the series now uses a series of status effects called Moodlets, which influence a Sim’s behavior based on their circumstances.

And, as Reddit userChaseroni_n_cheeserecently discovered, Moodlets can make Sims do very strange things, likeattempt to water their plants with their tears. This player attempted to interact with a small garden plot they had planted while their Sim was crying, only to see among the usual options “Water with Tears.” They didn’t go on to say whether they’d actually tried it or not, or what the results might have been - tears may be too salty for some plants, after all - but the mere existence of this absurd option was enough to send theSimsfandom into a frenzy.

The Sims 4 Lets Players Water Their Garden With Their Tears

Sims Players Share Similar Experiences

While many players were already aware of this option, others apparently weren’t, with many players delighted at the idea of watering their gardens with their tears. Some players, likeGalaxyPowderedCat, used it as the inspiration for a new challenge run:make a Sim with the Gloomy trait, and attempt to keep their garden alive using only their tears.

Others shared similar experiences in which Moodlets influenced their Sims' behavior.Th4t_4ngelpointed out that, when they’re angry, Sims may also be presented with the option to take an “angry poop.“Panicked poops are also popular if the Sim is scared.

Sims 1 Re-Release Has Something Major To Teach Sims 4

While Sims 4 is one of the most beloved cozy games in the genre, it’s missing one major gameplay aspect from The Sims 1 that could revitalize it.

From the ability to die of embarrassment, to a hidden aspiration that makes your Sim obsessed with grilled cheese, to having a child with Father Winter,The Sims 4is full of strange, reality-bending options that allow players to live out their wildest dreams and their worst nightmares. It’s one of the series' characteristic quirks, and one of the things that’s earned it enduring popularity over the years. Fans loveThe Sims 4not because it’s an accurate recreation of real life, but because it lets them get even weirder.
