Monster Hunter Wildsfinally received its first highly anticipated title update, adding plenty of new and returning features to the experience. From a massive new gathering hub, Palico Chefs, to some of the most challenging monstersWildshas seen yet, there’s a little something for everyone in the latest update. While Zoh Shia might be the star of the update thanks to its gorgeous spectacle of a fight and the equally unique gear it provides, actually getting into a hunt isn’t as easy as other monsters.

Siege-style battles are nothing new to theMonster Hunterfranchise, withMonster Hunter Worldalready having several in the form of Zorah Magdaros, Kulve Taroth, and Safi’jiiva respectively. Unlike the empoweredMizutsune and its tempered form, you can’t simply accept an optional quest or easily encounter Zoh Shia in any ofWilds’snatural environments. While these can cause frustration if you want a specific monster part or simply want to battle your favorite monster again,Wildsoffers more reliable ways to re-encounter rare monsters.

Zoh Shia Can Only Be Encountered During Limited Events

The Hardest Part Of Fighting Zoh Shia Is Often Getting Into The Hunt Itself

After completingMonster Hunter Wilds' title update quests to slay Zoh Shia, there’s no way to immediately hunt the monster again to gather all the materials you need for its armor and weapons. Rather than accepting an optional quest, Zoh Shia acts the same asWilds' Jin Dahaad, with rare appearances showing up at random times as an acceptable quest. If you want to speed up the process, you can easily rest at any Ruins of Wyveria camp and change the weather to Inclemency, but it can still be a long time before you ever see one.

10 Biggest Changes In Monster Hunter Wilds 1.010 Update

Monster Hunter Wilds' first title update is finally here, and with it comes a host of exciting new features, hunts, cosmetics, and performance fixes.

While you’re able to save a Zoh Shia quest as an investigation for up to 3 additional hunts per appearance, the best way to reliably farm Zoh Shia currently is to rely on public SOS quests at the bottom of Alma’s quest screen. Another benefit to this method is that you can opt to specify for Investigations, which offer valuable additional rewards and more experienced teammates. You’ll have to be quick if you want to get into any worthwhile quests, however, as it took me refreshing with a mouse several times to actually find a quest that didn’t fill up immediately.

Going In Without The Right Equipment Is A Surefire Way To Cart

With how challenging it can be to get into a Zoh Shia quest, let alone one with incredibly rare materials, you’ll want to make sure to be better prepared for the fight ahead. While it might have been easy to breeze through most ofMonster Hunter Wilds' challenges up to this point, Zoh Shia is one of the first monsters to provide asignificant challenge in its post-gamecontent, aside from Gore Magala and Arkveld. If you want to maximize the amount of rewards from your quest, the first step is to make sure your armor is properly reinforced.

You can gather more resources hunting solo or with one friend, as your Palico can plunder several additional materials.

Eating meals with bonus effects, bringing several stat-boosting potions like Mega Armorskin and Mega Demondrug, or even equipping armor and gems with defensive buffs can also be a great way to increase survivability against Zoh Shia. If you’re confident in your own abilities as a hunter, you can gather more resources hunting solo or with one friend, as your Palico can plunder several additional materials if you’ve completed the related optional quests. With the intense challenges and newfeatures coming in future updates, it’s good to get into the habit of proper preparation before difficult quests inMonster Hunter Wilds.
