How to fix the Apex Legends ‘Untrusted System File’ error?

The Untrusted System File is when the game’s anti-cheat system prevents users from opening their game. This error has been popping up after the new update, as the system has been unable to correctly detect files in Apex Legends. While we wait for EA to provide a fix, here are a few steps that can potentially fix this issue for you.

Access the Directory and delete the folder

A Reddit user suggested a workaround that allows players to continue playing the game and remove this error. Many Apex Legends players have reported this solution to be working without any problem.

Players should to go this address and delete the particular folder: \Program Files\EA Games\Apex\paks\Win64

Apex Legends

However, not every player might be comfortable going into the game’s directory to delete files. While EA itself has suggested this workaround, if you are not comfortable diving into the directories, we recommend going through some of the other steps in this article.

Clear Cache

A fix suggested on the EA forums is to clear the cache after making sure the game is up to date. Here’s how to clear the cache on different devices.

Mac

Restart the computer

Another temporary solution is to restart the computer. Restarting the computer  refreshes all the system memory registers making it them ready to start over again. If the computer is being restarted regularly, it will run optimally over time. So we recommend trying to restart the computer in case it is an issue of memory bottleneck that is causing problems with launching Apex Legends.

Reinstall the game

Sometimes, certain files might be missing from the game, which can cause boot-up problems. As such reinstalling the game can ensure that any missing or corrupted files are re-downloaded and will solve this issue.

Wait for the server update

The final step is to simply wait for the servers to receive an update. This issue is a detection issue on the part of EA and they will push an update that will fix the problem. Since it is affecting a wide range of players, the update should come sooner than later.
