Ever since he was introduced back in 2014,My Hero Academia’sDekuhas become one of anime’s most beloved and recognizable characters. His personality, pure heart, and conviction to help others turn him into an endearing and admirable individual. Izuku is an example of what a true hero is, slowly becoming a symbol of hope throughout his story.

It is because of this that Deku has become something more than just another shonen protagonist, as he surely reached the level of iconic heroes likeDC Comics’ Superman. Despite their significant difference in power, both characters serve as role models for fans of their respective series. Few characters embody the true meaning of being a hero like Izuku and Clark do.

Deku’s Story Is One Of Hope, Like Superman’s

Both Characters Bring Joy and Peace To Their Worlds

As the story ofMy Hero Academiaprogressed, fans were witnesses to Izuku’s amazing transformation from a regular teenager to one of history’s greatest warriors. Despite being born without any kind of special power, Deku embodied the ideals of a true hero from a young age. His biggest desire in life was to help people with a smile like his idol All Might. After a fortuitous encounter with Toshinori, Izuku was granted the ability to chase his dream. From that point onward, Midoriya’s story became one of hope and determination.

Deku used his powers not to gain fame or recognition, as many other pros tended to do, but rather to help those who could not protect themselves. Despite being only, a first-year student at U.A. High, Deku quickly rose to prominence, becoming synonymous with heroism and hope. His genuine desire to do good without any recompense, going as far as to help his arch-nemesis, explains whyhe became the greatest hero of all time. One of the few heroes who can rival Deku’s pure spirit is none other than Superman himself.

Deku’s Best Moment In My Hero Academia Is Actually a Superman Reference

Deku emulates a classic Superman feat in one of his most epic moments in My Hero Academia, showing the Man of Steel’s influence on the series.

Even though there is no denying that the Man of Steel is infinitely more powerful than Deku, his character is not famous only for his impressive strength.Clark Kent is an example of bravery, willpower, and kindness. Despite having the ability to completely overpower Earth’s protectors, as he is one of the most powerful heroes of all time, he uses his powers to create a better tomorrow. Izuku and Superman are both seen as symbols of hope in their worlds, inspiring people to improve themselves and fight for what is right.

My Hero Academia’s All Might Shocks Superman

All Might’s Biggest Mistake Keeps Him From Being Like Superman

Toshinori Became Japan’s Only Pillar, While Clark Always Pushes For Cooperation

During the almost 100 years since his first appearance inthe coveted and belovedAction Comics#1, Superman has had a chance to establish himself as an example of heroism. Superman’s mere presence has become a sign of safety and prosperity for the people of Earth, who trust him completely to keep them away from harm. Inside theMy Hero Academiauniverse, the character who most fans would think of when these ideals come to mind is All Might. Yet, one key detail, which is coincidentally Toshinori’s biggest mistake, keeps him from reaching Superman’s heights.

During his time as number one, All Might did his best to becomeJapan’s strong but lonely pillar. Since none of the other heroes could hope to compare with the power held by Toshinori, they became complacent in the idea that he would save them from all danger. When he was forced to retire during his battle against All For One, one of the most spectacular fights in the series, the fragile peace he created collapsed. Superman, on the other hand, leads by example, often cooperating with other heroes and even civilians to maintain peace.

All Might’s Final Form Confirms He Was Never My Hero Academia’s Superman

While All Might seems to be MHA’s version of Superman at first glance, his newest weapon ties him more closely to Tony Stark than Clark Kent.

Superman is not only one of the founding members of the world-famous Justice League, but he is also a fierce advocate for cooperation. He is aware that one person, no matter how powerful, cannot maintain peace by themselves. During the violent and bloody Final War arc,Deku manifested these same ideals, by becoming an icon that motivated others to join the fight. His bravery and determination emboldened his friends and allies to unite during the final battle, which culminated in victory for the heroes. In this regard, Deku is several times more like Superman than All Might.

Superman Is Not The Only Hero Who Resembles Deku

Spider-Man Has Also Been Compared to Izuku

While Deku becoming a symbol of hope for the world ofMy Hero Academiaproves his similarity to Superman, he is not the only hero with whom he has been compared. Peter Parker, also known as the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, is another character who perfectly encapsulates what it means to be a hero. The wallcrawler might not be the mightiest Marvel character of all time, nor the smartest, but he has one of the biggest hearts in the franchise. No matter the cost, Peter is always willing to extend a helping hand, even to his enemies.

Even when facing an enemy who far exceeds his power,Spider-Man never backs down. Izuku has demonstrated many of these admirable traits during his time as protagonist. As a hero, Deku has fought villains whose power and abilities made them seem impossible to defeat, from the cruel Overhaul to the imposing Muscular. Nonetheless, Midoriya fought valiantly until these heinous villains were defeated. Still, when one of his enemies needed a hero of their own, as was the case with Tenko during the final battle, Deku did not hesitate to assist them.

Deku, Spider-man, and Superman are examples of what a true hero should be, one of the key messages inMy Hero Academia, as they all embody the best humanity has to offer. Despite their different origins, situations, and powers, they all fought tooth and nail to become beacons of hope for the world, creating a better future for all who admire them. They are all deserving of praise and respect, as few characters can achieve what they have and remain good and pure of heart.
