The Lord of the Ringsgets a Christmas twist in a new music video, which features Gollum attempting to secure his Precious during the holiday season. Based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien, Peter Jackson first brought theworld of Middle-earthto life in 2001, with his trilogy ultimately concluding in 2003. Gollum plays a large role in the second and third films, leading Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) through Mordor to Mount Doom, though he eventually gives in to his desire for the One Ring.
Brendan Daltonnow puts Gollum front and center in a newLord of the Ringsmusic video called “Gollum’s Christmas.” The video, which is presented in claymation, features Gollum enjoying a very Merry Christmas with the One Ring, often appearing alongside Frodo and Sam in a version of Middle-earth that’s been decked out for the holidays. Just because it’s Christmas, though, doesn’t mean Gollum is being any less mischievous. Check out the music video below:

What Gollum’s Christmas Means For Lord Of The Rings
Gollum Will Continue To Play An Important Role In The Franchise Moving Forward
Gollum remains one of the most memorable and importantLord of the Ringscharacters, but, despite the impressiveness of the above music video,he probably won’t be getting a Christmas Middle-earth adventure anytime soon. Gollum is, however, set to play an important role in the franchise moving forward. The character, played by Andy Serkis, is set to feature prominently in the upcomingThe Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollummovie.
Lord Of The Rings' Gollum Movie Could Be The Blueprint For Adapting A Major Event Cut From Peter Jackson’s Movies
The Lord of the Rings’ upcoming Gollum movie could offer a blueprint for adapting a major event that was cut from Peter Jackson’s trilogy.
In addition to reprising his role as Gollum, Serkis will also directThe Hunt for Gollum, which featuresLord of the Ringsfranchise shepherds Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens on board as producers. The story features Gollum back during the events ofThe Fellowship of the Ring, chronicling Aragorn and Gandalf’s attempts to catch the creature before he can bring word of Frodo and the Ring to Sauron.

The Hunt for Gollumis tentatively scheduled to release in 2026, with the project now seemingly in the script stage.
Our Take On Gollum’s Christmas
Now Is The Perfect Time To Revisit Lord Of The Rings
Jackson’sThe Lord of the Ringstrilogy remains the gold standard for fantasy adaptations, and all three films were critically acclaimed in addition to being box office successes. Though the more divisiveThe Hobbittrilogymay not have reached these same heights, Jackson’s original take on Middle-earth has come to define the franchise. More than 20 years sinceThe Fellowship of the Ringwas released, the franchise certainly has a level of comfort and familiarity to it, making it a great choice to revisit over the holidays.
An official Gollum Christmas movie is unlikely to ever happen –Christmas doesn’t exist in Middle-earth anyway– but the music video above does make a compelling argument for rewatching Jackson’s iconic trilogy. If Gollum were to star in his ownLord of the Ringsholiday movie with musical numbers, he would most certainly sing about wanting the One Ring for Christmas.
