What The Godzilla Video Says About The Franchise
Godzilla Has A Lot Of Enemies Who Could Return
The recentGodzillafilms in the Monsterverseand beyond have pitted the legendary titan against some truly memorable foes, but the video serves as a reminder that there are still some enemies that haven’t been seen on the big screen in quite some time. Godzilla fought King Ghidorah inGozilla: King of the Monstersin 2019 and he fought Mechagodzilla inGodzilla vs. Kongin 2021, buthe hasn’t faced off against either Megalon or Gigan in a feature film in quite some time.
The 16 Best Godzilla Enemies
The best Godzilla enemies have legacies that span far beyond just Godzilla’s films and are often some of the greatest movie monsters of all time.
Megalon made his big screen debut in 1973’sGodzilla vs. Megalon, and most recently appeared in an animated short film of the same name in 2023. Gigan first appeared in 1972’sGodzilla vs. Gigan, and he would also appear inGodzilla vs. Megalonbefore returning once more inGodzilla: Final Wars(2004). Neither Megalon nor Gigan has appeared in the Monsterverse, however, meaning they could eventually get the Hollywood treatment in a future sequel.

OtherGodzillaenemies who have yet to appear in the Monsterverse include: Manda, Hedorah, Biollante, King Caesar, Kumonga, Anguirus, and Orga.
Our Take On The Godzilla Fan Video
The Door Is Open For A Megalon & Gigan Return
While theSkar King inGodzilla x Kong: The New Empiremade for a strong antagonist, the video above is a reminder that there’s still plenty of lore that the Monsterverse has yet to explore. With Godzilla and Kong having formed a reluctant partnership, now could be a great time to introduce more enemies from the franchise’s past, potentially multiple at a time.
BothMegalon and Gigan feature distinctive designs and abilities, and, as a team, they would make for great adversariesto Godzilla and Kong. While both could certainly appear in the confirmedGodzilla vs Kongsequel, the success ofGodzilla Minus Onemeans a sequel is probably on the way for that film as well, and it would be interesting to see director Takashi Yamazaki’s take on these monsters. It’s unclear whoGodzillawill be fighting next, but there are evidently some strong options on the table.
